What's the Leafs Stanley Cup? Getting a frat boy fist bump from Cooper in the handshake line, making it to the 2nd round for the first time since the Vietnam War, or having a game 7 against the Cup finalist (the Habs)?

If you must know, the Leafs had won their Cup in 2022, when Matthews scored 60 goals and got the Hart. They also fell just one goal short of winning the Cup last year, when Matthews stopped at 69 goals.
Having great regular seasons with impressive statistical seasons from your home grown superstars would be a lot of fun to watch. So what if they lose in the first round, weather is beautiful outside, shut off the tv and go ride a bike.

As a Leafs fan I really like Suzuki. Considering cap hit, age, contract term, I would take him over Matthews.
As a Habs fan I don't know if I'd agree with that. Is Matthews' wrist that damaged?
Prime Suzuki and Caufield will make less than Matthews COMBINED for 2 years when he'll renegociate in 2028.

Hes on pace for 89 points, and has been improving that total year after year since joining the league.
There is still some room to grow that number as the core around him evolves. His current linemates still have room to grow, particularly slafkovsky, and the addition of demidov (and an elusive 2C) to the core may make points easier to come by as well.

They hate the Habs for some reason and it's pissing them off to see they are on a upward trajectory towards contenders in a few years.

I actually expect both those two to re-sign at bottom 6 money. They both love being Habs and are excellent depth players. They are just too expensive.
