The flyers woyld be adding povorov so the return is a bonus. 4Th rounder would be nice

The Flyers are not trading Schultz before the season. The Flyers are going to send down MacDonald if Provorov makes the team. Thus:
DZ-Gudas
Provorov - Ghost
Streit- Schultz
Manning

MacDonald will be insurance if someone gets injured. Also, the Flyers are hoping against hope that someone will pick him up off waivers.

The Flyers may trade Schultz at the trade deadline for a third or fourth rounder.

Wondering what a team in the playoff hunt would give up to acquire NHL veteran Nick Schultz from the Philadelphia Flyers.

Rangers traded a 4th to get Holden, a LD-SHD. Bottom 4 role is about the same for both of these guys. Holden comes a bit cheaper and on a 2 year deal. IMO that rates Schultz at about a 5th.

It's very unlikely they pair the 19 year old with the 23 year old.

When I was watching the Caps and Flyers series this guy stood out a lot defensively. Block a lot of Ovechkin's shots. I'd say a 3rd at the deadline.

It will depend on how he plays this season, not how he is perceived right now.

Best hope for the Flyers would be a 3rd round pick. A 4th is more likely.

Wonder if Ottawa would have any interest in LD Nick Schultz for Ottawa's 3rd defensive pairing, since Dennis Seidenberg signed with the Islanders.

Wonder if the Sens would want Schultz for a 3rd or 4th round pick in 2017 or 2018.
Flyers could also retain up to 750k of Schultz's contract.

Question: Does Gostisbehere prefer playing on the right side or is he just there because other lefties can't make the switch?

Gostisbehere is on the right side because only Gudas and Streit are the only other defensemen on the Flyers roster that can play the right side consistently.

I believe Del Zotto and Manning have been on the right defense at some point, but they are not good playing on the right side.

I would suspect that Ottawa would rather promote from within for our bottom pairing, or go after a guy like Ehrhoff now that Seidenberg and Quincey have signed elsewhere, rather than pay 2.25 or 1.5 (depending if you retain or not) on Schultz and trading a pick for him. Who knows, they may even sign Bartkowski after his PTO. Just my opinion though. :)

Morin has been pretty impressive in camp i think the first call up on d goes to him. MacDonald is overpayed but hes played well since being recalled last year and im pretty sure has cemented himself at the 6 spot

Any team looking for a 3rd pairing LHD? His cap hit/salary is $2.25m, but the Flyers could afford to retain 50% in return for a 4th round pick.

The Flyers would keep him as the #7, but they have MacDonald and could use some extra cap space.

I've said since this summer that I'd like to see DD for him.

Some Flyers fans agreed to it, some not (those fans wanted to see Laughton/Cousins as their 3C).

I'd still like to do it from MTL POV.
