Mikhayev Will be traded after this
No room for him
They might trade a sucka like engvall too sire. We have so many options sire. We like ruling the nhl world now. We GOT EM ALL! GOT WHAT (WE) WANTED! This is so cool and exciting to be a live and see this thug team roll netx season. Simmonds, Ritchie.... Gabriel and his demaiter. WE READY! Cuttin heads off and still talkin, what!!!

There it is. I probably would have given him 3 years, because 2 years walks him to UFA again, where as 3 years would have bought a UFA year. Still a good contract and the smart move here. Now, each line except the 3rd line has some grit on the line. Ritchie on line #1, Bunting on line #2 and Simmonds on line #4. Ritchie, Bunting and Kase are all middle-6 forwards with potential for more I think. It looks a lot better than it did a couple days ago. Dubas did a decent job when you look at everything all put together. Ritchie, Bunting and Kase are all 25 and Kampf is 26, those are some young FA signings.

I hope that they don't let Rielly to just walk for nothing.

Always feel that Leafs overpaid a player to come here. $2.5m looks a pretty steep for a player who scored 15 goals one time.

The are reasons many of us don't blame Dubas for the recent failures of the Leafs:

First, I think he's become a better GM as each year has passed.

Second, he's honest and direct with fans, not ducking talking to the media most of the time or passing blame (even when some can fairly be shared).

Third, he's not arrogant or stagnant in his position.

He will ultimately pay the price if the Leafs fail. It they fail, it will be because the best players didn't get it done in the big games, not because Dubas didn't find the right players, even as I have some philosophical differences with his approach (I'm more of a big splash guy to find assured studs, Dubas is more loyal).

Bottom line, the players have to get it done because Dubas is constantly working the phones to set them up for success.

Praising failure never gets less hilarious. I don't know how you do it. Of course it's his fault. He's the architect of the team and had done numerous dumb things to kneecap it. This isn't daycare. Why are we letting a guy learn on the job in the first place?

At what point is it his fault?

So if I go down to the track and bet my house on horse #16 and he finishes last, it is the horses fault ??

The thing about Mik is that other than the fact that he can’t feel his hand on his stick he’s a great player. I’m still hoping he gets that feel back.
He's also really good defensively and can make some really good passes. It's frustrating that he can't score to save his life but imo he's still a net positive player, I'd much rather move Engvall

I'll gladly take Kase and Ritchie short term over Hyman at 7/5.5.

I like that the contract is reasonable and doesn't preclude Robertson getting a look at LW1

That Hyman contract was well earned. I root for the hard workers Gamers to get paid, it's a key principle of mine that effort is rewarded.

It will probably equate to an overpayment by about a million/yr and a couple of years in term.

He's going to get an opportunity to get more ice time and play with much better linemates than he has throughout his career. He should easily put up similar numbers as Hyman would have on the top line at less than half of the AAV.

How happy is this guy today?

The gambling component aside which I am not a fan of. Of course it's the horses fault, if they were favoured to win.

The Leafs were at one point Cup Faves in Vegas a few years ago (probably knowing there was easy money with the excitable Leaf fans). This past year in particular, even I thought this Leaf team had the horses to make the Finals.

Dubas error was the Cap management of the RFA deals. They all played hardball, probably due to Tavares contract and the sweetener they needed to deal with Babcock. I don't know.

Ultimately though, he's putting in full effort. If he doesn't succeed in Toronto, he will find another job at the NHL level. Owners will see that his ability to work along the edges when needed. These players don't need to sign here, he's getting them.
