it's never a good sign when pretty much every single player on the team looks great in a game except for one guy. I doubt anybody would miss him if he lost his spot

I would call up Arizona and see if they wanna swap Lawson Crouse for Ritchie.

I know Crouse's game can be ugly - but at the very least he can skate and keep a decent pace, and could actually carve a role as a bottom-6 physical energy player who can also PK.

I'd pretty easily trade Ritchie for Crouse. Not even a debate in my mind.

Itchy had a few hits tonight and separated the player from the puck. I only think he could do that because he was up against many AHLers on VGK. Outside of that: nothing. No speed. No nose for the net. No playmaking. No 2-way abillity.

Leaf Fans,

what are we going to do about Itchy?

We can always just buy him out in the off-season.. 300K dead cap first year, second year is 1.1M. We're better off with Mikheyev than this plug.. atleast he works his ass off and doesn't score. Ritchie does nothing lol

Ask yourself why Arizona would take on an older player with significantly more money owed who is a UFA at the end of next season?

you forgot Ritchie is also the worse player , lol

if Ritchie doesn't pick it up , dump him on the Marlies , whoever we bring up can't be worse and even if there no better at least we'll save a few hundred grand in cap space

At this rate Ritchie might be tanking his own career in the NHL. Sort of the reverse Galchenyuk experiment.

Put him on waivers if he doesn't pick it up.

Jimmy Vesey 2.o.

Did anyone even watch the game. The guy did nothing wrong as a 11 minute 4th liner and went straight to the net when Spezza had the puck. Had a nice scoring chance he would have buried if the puck settled. Collected 2 blocks as well.

Bunting had about 4-5 cracks in front of the net. This isn't a knock on Bunting he had an A+ game, but Ritchie does have better hands and a bigger frame you have to imagine if it was Ritchie on the door step, Nylander and Matthews might have an extra assist or two. These are the chances I was talking about that never came for Ritchie. His line didn't produce anything, it was aimless hockey. These chances are what he should have seen from day 1 but we had a disaster of a start. Even in the Rangers game with our elite advanced stats, these chances didn't exist.

don't understand why we didn't re-sign Gally , i thought he played well and well above his cap hit , also much better than the scrap heap guys we picked up this year except for maybe Bunting

maybe part of the problem of his not lines getting chances falls on him ?

Does the team employ Pro Scouts ? Pretty obvious the guy is to slow to play in a top 9 role

I think it's just not the right fit. The Leafs play more of a North-South style game that focuses on skating and that's definitely not his strong suit. Although, I thought the same with Simmonds and I think he's been very effective in the 4th line role this year.

I think he would be more suited for an East-West game, that builds up the ice slower and focuses on the cycle below the red-line, whereas the Leafs like constantly moving rotations of forwards and defensemen throughout the zone.

They were probably hoping that he could have fit in the top 6, but it hasn't worked to this point.

My understanding is that Leafs offered him league min or very close to it. He thought he deserved more, waited for the market, didn't get a better offer. Then decided to go to Arizona where he's basically guaranteed playing time and has a place there.
