Speculation: Nick Kypreos - "I expect Minten or Cowan to be gone pretty much this time next week"

  • Xenforo Cloud will be upgrading us to version 2.3.5 on March 3rd at 12 AM GMT. This version has increased stability and fixes several bugs. We expect downtime for the duration of the update. Leafs don’t have a 2025 1st so if they want to make a move for one of the high end rentals wouldn’t be surprised to see one of those guys included

The only assets they have to move are Minten, Cowan, Niemela, 2026 1st. Other than Robertson who they probably won't move.

Niemela doesn't have much value, every team have a prospect like him on their team.

Minten is fine I guess, his value must be around a 2nd round pick.

I don’t believe Cowan will be traded.
 
Minten is a B level prospect at best so if they’re making a splash it’ll take more than him.

Cowan could be valuable though

I think the Leafs are more inclined to move Cowan anyway. Minten is exactly what the Leafs need now and he should be a full time 3C as of next season.

I'm sure they'll spend the extra 22 million on something good for your team. Just sayin. I'm also assuming Tavares extends for half his current salary if he wants to keep playing

We cheer for a team that is trying to kill us. Don't count on anything.
 
Minten looks like his ceiling is fourth liner. Just no offensive instincts or ability. In juniors up to where he currently is. So not surprising he’s available. Same with a guy like Danford who at best looks like a number 6 who hits really hard, but I see a minor leaguer.

Tell me you don’t know the players without telling me you don’t know the players.

Danford projects like another Tanev not some number 6. He is a shut down guy who makes a good first pass. You look at stats and think you know the player. You obviously don’t.

Also Minten’s ceiling is a 2nd line center. Not a 4th liner.

To be fair, I haven’t listened to this spot but Kyper is usually pretty clear when he’s just giving his take and not reporting any inside info.

His takes are usually just not great lol.
