Still think he’s a f***ing idiot but the team needs him desperately.
Think he's cleared to practice with the team. 6 month suspension ends the 13th I believe.

Above all I want this team to win it all.
The most likely scenario for that to even be a possibility this year is Nuke staying clean & healthy and playing lights out.
Therefore, that is what I root for and hope for. Also for the human side of it. The man's got a family with a small child so even more I hope he stays clean forever and continues to have success, both professionally and personally.
I'm not one to hold grudges. I have not in my personal life and for f***s sake will not for an athlete I don't even know personally.
All that said, it's Nuke's last chance. Stage four is basically the end of his career. Hope that that's enough for the addict, as often there needs to be a real ultimatum for real permanent change to happen.
Anyways, my stance right now is to root for the guy and I will be most happy for all involved (us fans too) if he f***ing slays his demons and comes through.

I'm personally excited for the obvious PR plant stories of how well he is doing, that his life turned a corner, he's such an inspiration, etc... only for him to get popped the next week.

This is when I keep inserting this factoid... in most leagues cocaine is considered a PED, in the NHL it is specifically carved out.

Yep, that's true. He also played his absolute worst hockey when he got back last year right after his 1st suspension (presumably sober). He was so bad he was unrecognizable.
It makes sense though. Nuke needs to be relentless to be effective and a guy this big might need something extra to be that relentless. It's all connected.

Anyway yeah I expect him to get caught too. If he makes it past playoffs this year, then there's some hope for him.
I am rooting for him to get clean and sort his life out. But it is best to not believe that a drug addict will be able to do it, because you'll be disappointed. Same as those who are abusive in relationships.

Yep, and while you identified a time he was presumably clean, let’s use last playoffs as an example when he was clearly high and got caught against Dallas.
That version of Nuke against Winnipeg/Dallas was an absolute monster who was leading the entire NHL in playoff goals when he got caught.
Cocaine fuelled Nuke is a thing of beauty. Endless energy, relentless every shift and plays the game hard.
