Niagara Icedogs 2024-25 Season Thread, Part IV

I doubt it - He is done and will likely head back to ECHL where the standards are much lower.
As far as next steps all you are likely to see is the team get sold and a new GM.
At least three leaders on this team have asked to be traded because of the treatment of the coaches by DD. He had their respect and if nothing is done soon to repair the relationship, you will find out exactly who they are.

"leaders" Are those the same ones that organized a walk out before the playoffs? Or the ones that harassed people in a movie theater and trashed 2 billet houses?
I don't think leadership was a quality on that team that can be thrown around.

You are right...it wasn't Brauti, nor Flores, nor Max Crete. There are at least 3 that would be missed from this years team.

The owner of the Niagara IceDogs says he has no intention of selling the club despite a ruling this week from the Ontario Hockey League stipulating he can no longer be involved in the day-to-day operations of the team in any capacity.

“Want this team to stay in the family for the very long term,” Darren DeDobbelaer said in a text message to BPSN Thursday.

He, Roobroeck and Czata? That would be one hell of a big 3

He probably doesn’t want to sell but doesn’t matter he will have to anyways. Also media trained

Because his son is going to be given a position in hockey club

But again, what was the cause?

This cutural crap is exactly that.

The assitants were ot fired they just did not have their contracts renewed,

As to Boudreau they are going to have to outline publicly what he is accused of because if not and he gets black balled he will hae a right

Ok that’s fair but I was more talking about how things were run
It was run by Marty.

He ran the draft, the trades and on the ice. The Burkes sat in a box and were cheerleaders. Then they screwed everything up by firing Marty and bringing in the two clowns/sons.

That was day one of the downfall of this organization. I would drive to Barrie and pick up Marty myself if he’d come back.

This whole thing is beyond whacked.

If an owner is so unfit that there needs to be a full-time “executive liaison” to insulate all the organization’s employees and players from him — essentially, a Chinese Wall — who in their right mind would want to work (or play) for him?

As I see it, there are 20 OHL franchises and one has repeatedly gone rogue. Kinda like a nice street with one crack house. Methinks the solution might be to shut it down and then tear it down.

Which will be an even bigger disaster. I've seen that kid in the stands with his Dad and Wes. Never watches the game. Just watches videos on his phone or distracts them while they're watching the game, pretending they're qualified to make decisions.

🤮🤮🤮

I generally enjoy your point of view regarding the Icedogs but not in this case. I just can’t follow the logic
It's a case of trying to raise a point without betraying a source.

There is more going on than the league walking in and firing staff. Let's just say this is a three or four way debate as to who's to blame and that hopefully the OHL becomes more transparent about what they have done, what DD has done and about which players or staff were complicit, or not.

Meanwhile in Niagara, what's left of the fanbase has been dealt a swift kick to the nards.

I agree. How does the OHL during an investigation hear about a player rubbing their genitals against a staff member, same player locking a younger player in the bathroom for hours while having a girl in the room, multiple incidents of harassment/ bullying, constant curfew breaking, billet trashing, the infamous theatre night and having an entire team drug tested, only see fit to remove the bench staff who were in no way complicit? DD, LC and all players remain team members. Where is the transparency and accountability for those individuals? Let’s just bury the coaches and move on. There is much more left unreported than what either the team or OHL are providing.
