Correct Buttsy. All they would offer BB is enough money to get thru the next few to several months. In theory enough so that he can take his time to find new employment. We won't be getting 3 years salary, that is for sure.
Maybe not what you think. If mgmt are on the ball.Still going to be expensive. Plus having to pay a replacement... We thought DD was cheap before...
In all honesty, at the moment, what experienced Mjr Junior coaches would want anywhere near this situation ?the league is running everything now. nothing can happen without their approval. they are for all purposes hiring the new gm and coach.
The challenge to this whole mess is that we have not seen anything on paper that is a smoking gun, other than a feeling that there was a lack of competence in the ownership management of the teamI haven't seen any reports, have you? If so, please share. I am guessing BB and the ACs put the blame on DD for the culture issues. DD through WC fired them, refused to renew their contracts, out of spite, which was still within his power to do though it damages his team. I still maintain BB has a case against DD and the league for failing in their fiduciary role. I await the OHL's transparency, while Niagara fans suffer.
The league will locate the new GM and direct DD to hire and pay him or her. The GM will then have full power to hire the coaching staff and make day to day decisions about the team. It will be interesting to see how the off ice things like marketing are handled because they are not the purview of the GM usually. I am sure a review is going to happen of all the billets as well.the league is running everything now. nothing can happen without their approval. they are for all purposes hiring the new gm and coach.
The league is going to be leery of a sale of the team because of their track record findin ownership consider that the league authorized the sale to the last 2 sets of owners.Somebody mentioned a good point. The league can't flat out announce they are forcing a sale because that can impact the sale price as the seller is a "distressed seller".
I just can't see DD keeping the team and not being involved. You buy something like this for a few reasons. You enjoy managing a hockey team, or you want to be a silent owner and you are in it for a passive stream of income as an investment. I doubt DD is the type of person to just sit back and wait for the yearly dividend. So a sale must be coming soon.
Depending on what happened, BB could be entitled to the remainder of his contract in full just like any other coach. BUT again there is nothing stopping the new GM from talking to BB and possibly hiring him at this pointCorrect Buttsy. The last owners were great it was the kids that were the problemThe league is going to be leery of a sale of the team because of their track record finding ownership consider that the league authorized the sale to the last 2 sets of owners.
I'd take him back over those 2. At least he doesn't play boring hockey. What about marty Williamson back to you
They hired the kids! The last owners were great it was the kids that were the problem
Tell me, what have you heard that was so bad of BB and his coaching staff?based on everything ive heard he shouldnt be owed a dime
Ok that’s fair but I was more talking about how things were runThey hired the kids!
Tell me, what have you heard that was so bad of BB and his coaching staff?
All indications are BB's hands were tied. He was being told what to do by the 3 stooges (DD, WC and Walters).
This all happens when you have an agent dictating player lineups and line combo's to suit his players. The arrogance of some of these players of Walters', who by the way, were the troublemakers on the team because they knew that they can get away with anything. These players are given everything on this team. And you want to do is criticize the coaching staff.
For arguments sake, let's say that BB was not the right choice to manage these arrogant players. Are you also suggesting that Daniel Paille was negligent as a coach as well. DP has a reputation as a no-nonsense, hard working, character guy that i would take over any of the 3 stooges.
Still a long way until late august too. Lots of time for them to find their guy.I think this is pretty clear.
The OHL cleaned house and they have left DD on the hook to pay the bills until a new owner is found.
The league has a lot to do before a sale is final and last time they hurried a sale, look what happened. I think we’ve all heard there are a couple perspective owners out there.
Once an owner is found, there is no need for a liaison and the change will be complete.
I just hope the new GM and coach can convince the players to stay or to sign.
Or Luca Caputi! Was a great player in this league…Heyyou can have Cameron he is a 3-time WJC coach
said it already but IMO DD will still try to interfere even if the league says he can’t and this if true kinda goes towards my pointI was told that Mike Futa is meeting with DD on Saturday which to me makes no sense. You would think that meeting should be with the OHL not DD.
I doubt you will see Luca ever coaching again.Or Luca Caputi! Was a great player in this league…
I think we can all agree on that. Would be a great beer league coach though!I doubt you will see Luca ever coaching again.
That was a Mav experiment gone very wrong.
Yea,I think we can all agree on that. Would be a great beer league coach though!
BB had the respect of the players. You will all hear more about that as this debacle goes on.Yea,
BB also had LOTS of red flags in how he handled himself even in the media.
He was throwing teenagers under the bus in interviews like crazy. -This is not something you see very much from a JR hockey coach and a good way to have lots of people turn on you.
A lot of the systems were shit too. He instilled a identity that had the team trying to thrive in chaos on the ice. -Apparently it was the same off the ice lol.
I doubt it - He is done and will likely head back to ECHL where the standards are much lower.BB had the respect of the players. You will all hear more about that as this debacle goes on.
You may be a little surprised by how the players felt.BB had the respect of the players. You will all hear more about that as this debacle goes on.
