Niagara Icedogs 2024-25 Season Thread, Part IV

. FYI. There are now multiple groups looking to purchase the IceDogs.

That is great news. From what I have heard, DD wants to sell. Now it’s just a matter of the price being acceptable to DD.

He can either accept the price now or accept it later minus whatever fine the league imposes. He has to realize the investigation isn't going to go his way and the consequences will be monetary.
You’re correct he SHOULD realize the investigation won’t go his way and the best thing to do is admit defeat and take whatever you can get however I don’t think DD thinks that way (how he proves me wrong soon)

He knows full-well he has been running the team and performing the GM duties. The staff and players know it as well, maybe even Wes too, but now the stories are coming out like vomit on a carnival ride. This would be a second strike for DD and one that could attract a hefty fine or an outright order of sale, or both. He's in the insurance business, it is always better to settle outside of a courtroom than face an angry verdict - the devil you know versus the devil you don't.

If there really is multiple groups attempting to purchase the team. It would be hard to believe it won't be for an acceptable price.

There is so much smoke, right now, it would be impossible that there is not fire! DD is very worried (we’ll know the results within a few weeks); multiple groups interested (good ones too); asking price is high, but that will resolve itself.

I'm sure Edgar's agent called London right after Niagara selected. Probably didn't have to look the number up, nor did anyone have to be introduced.
That would be very possible (no joking). Ryerson Edgar's agent has clients on the London Knights. If we don't have a new owner, they can negotiate Ryan Roobroeck into that deal too, because he won't be back if it's status quo.

Michael Tang tendered with USHL the day of the draft (April 11). Madison must be fairly confident Tang will play there, since they forfeited both their first-round and second-round picks in Phase I of the USHL draft by simply tendering him.

Also, makes you question if the IceDogs were even aware that Tang had tendered with the USHL when they drafted him? With only 1, 3, 4 at the top of the draft, you're probably right using their only 4th on Tang was probably not the best decision.

they get it back if tang signs with an ohl club before the ushl draft.

Unrelated to draft or DD I have a question for you. I think we all expect Assadourian back as an OA. What are the odds Paris is back as an OA after a strong finish? Obviously keeping Paris would mean only 1 OA slot for a new big D man when we could ideally could use 2. Just wondering the threads thoughts as I can’t imagine any other current OA’s will make the team next year.

I think that all depends on a few things 1 what’s out there in terms of OAs around the league what 2 what they do this summer in trades and the other drafts (I don’t expect much from the U18 or import draft) but still if they manage to get a D or two in either draft that might change what the OA situation is IMO this team has a lot to do this summer roster wise

oh my goodness, another summer of 5 or more trades! I give up

basically need a top d pairing with an import and OA and a top C. Virgilio and Cheynowski were looking better at the end of the year but damn were they tough to watch for most of the season. Could see Bell as third pairing RD. I would give Jeffery a look to start in net next year, looked very composed.

On the podcast they were suggesting this will be a good off season to grab some OAs. Because so many teams loaded up for a playoff run, some of them will be looking to off load players this year.

Steer clear of that. Last thing we need is a Flint situation immediately after DD. A few of groups currently interested are actual hockey people.

his kid is way better then that kid. if that guy buys the team it may be not to bad, he seems to be hands off and throws money without even thinking.

the chicago steel owner back in the day was the same way, that turned out pretty good

I was going to say maybe they drafted him to supply the dev camp food this year.

Knowing who a couple of the interested groups are (with very strong local connections) is the way to go in Niagara. They would immediately have the support and trust of our community.

could be, i dont know them. i just say the amount of money that the 09s dad threw into the program and how hands off everyone said he was. just not a fair comparison to flint.

We are too beat up here in Niagara to hope that this person works out better than DD. In particular, One of the four groups (five if we count that father), would be a home run for Niagara and the OHL. I just hope we land them.🙏🙏

im very confident that the current owner will not have a say in the sale. for all intensive purposes the team is no longer his, the league has taken it over. they are under investigation for about 143 different league violations

Wow 143.
Hearing that DD is very worried. The findings of the investigation come out early May. You’re probably right they may have already taken over. Which might explain the flurry of interested groups.

I’m being sarcastic with the amount. No idea what it is but it sounds like it’s never ending.

I hope the coaches dad is not involved as I’m not sure the league wants him back either
