Niagara Icedogs 2024-25 Season Thread, Part IV

I don't think this owner cares about the Icedogs. I think he is more worried about being considered a hockey man. Can anyone confirm that Roobroeck wants out next year?

What I can confirm is there are several players that want out if there is not a change in ownership and a few specific players moved out. This is going to be one very unsettling offseason.

I had heard over the weekend that Roobroeck is gone. I can't imagine Czata stays if Roobroeck goes...they have developed well together. I noticed that Kevin He looked extremely frustrated yesterday...banging his stick on the glass and boards several times after not receiving passes when wide open.

As a parent, there is no way I would want my kid to play for the IceDogs. You are probably nervous anyway with them living away from home so you want to make sure they are in a good environment and getting well looked after. That doesn’t appear to be happening with the IceDogs.

I’m aware of a few other players extremely unhappy that want out. In Roobroeck case, he really holds the upper hand. As a highly touted 2026 draft prospect he can pick whatever top NCAA hockey program he wants to play for next season. If there are not changes in certain players that need to be moved out along with ownership, this could be one of this franchise worst off season. We are not in a good situation and really need Crawford to help us. If we do not get new ownership, I’m completely done as an IceDog fan!

I will never give up on the team and will always be a fan as long as they are in Niagara. That being said, we need new ownership. Our owner is a fool and only worried about his own perception rather than the players, the coaches, the parents and the billets. We have rarely had more than one icedog per billet and we now have local households with two and sometimes three icedogs. Something very bad is happening with the ownership and their relationship with the above mentioned groups.

Throwback to @dirty12 November views of my projection model.

I just wrote an email to Bryan Crawford telling him that this ownership group is putting the franchise at risk. I would encourage all those who are as worried as I am about the future of the franchise to follow suit

Excellent. I will be doing the same!

Very good idea. I think we all should do that. If DD stays as owner, I really think we are seeing the beginning of the end for the IceDogs.

I just sent a my letter to Bryan Crawford! The more letters he receives the more impactful they could be in the final outcome.

That was ~2 months prior to the trade deadline which was when I said it was likely that Niagara would be passed by teams adding. It took ~3 months; so your ‘model’ predicting within 2 weeks was way off.

You want to know what's "way off"? "I would not be very surprised if Brampton falls back to 7th." .

I don’t know where he’s coming up with the 2 weeks but I thought I was really clear that my model had Brampton and Niagara switching places.

I think he’s still really surprised I was right that they would be a 7th/8th place bubble team eventually as they were in first place in the East when I said such.

There’s a reason NHL teams pay me to provide them with data and it’s not because my projections are dog shit like he insinuated last fall when he questioned my intelligence to everyone here!

if nhl teams pay you for you info, why do you care what some random says on a message board?

Because insulting a professional about what he does for a living with an opinion is not right and deserves a response.
I think most professionals have a little voice in their brain that says "consider the source" and it saves them from rolling around in the muck. Taking nothing away from @ScoutLife4 but I wondered the same thing as @OHL4Life - why lower yourself?

Here is our commissioner’s email address: [email protected] and just a few points that IceDog fans could include:

- suspended GM meddling with line combinations and playing time

- bullying concerns / off-ice cultural issues / office staff firings

- player discontent and want out of Niagara (retention / recruitment problems)

- constant cost-cutting measures

- decline in attendance and season ticket holders

i scout, im not sure id call myself a professional but also pretty sure that i know more then most general fans and parents. i get dms and tweets and posts from idiots allt he time, i don't bother with it unless its to poke fun and rile them up a bit, personally i don't go back at them with my resume and say how smart i am, but thats me.

Fair enough.

‘Tough to ignore’ Players urged to focus on hockey while Niagara IceDogs organization under microscope

"
Boudreau said having the team under the microscope — and in the headlines for something other than hockey — is “tough to ignore.”
“There’s no question about that. It’s how we manage the distraction that’s important, right?” he said in an interview. “And my job as a coach is try to mitigate when things that would take away our attention or focus winning hockey games.
“It’s definitely a topic of conversation that guys are talking about, but my job as a coach is to control the things that we can, and that’s our effort and that’s our focus and our preparation.
“We’re going to continue to do everything we can to try to win games and, whatever the process is, just let it play out.”
Boudreau didn’t know when the investigation was expected to wrap up.
“I have no idea, and I’m not sure what it’s even regarding, to be honest with you,” he said. “As far as that, my focus is, and always will be, on the Niagara IceDogs, trying to get them all on the same page in order to win hockey games.”

There's just no way he doesn't actually know what the investigation is regarding. I get that its just the standard answer to give, but c'mon.
