Niagara Icedogs 2024-25 Season Thread, Part III

  • Xenforo Cloud is doing server maintenance Thurdsay 13th at 9 AM GMT. Downtime is to be expected during the process. Server changes were implemented recently to cope with the traffic surge last week. This seems to be affecting the user login, so please anyone experiencing this, log out and clear the browser cache. We expect to have this issue solved once the maintenance is complete.
  • We are currently aware of "log in/security error" issues that are affecting some users. We apologize and ask for your patience as we try to get these issues fixed.

Erie Brampton and one of Ottawa or NB he doesn’t need to play Barrie the last game of the year (especially if we play them round one and he’s not the only guy I’d keep out of that game)

I wouldn’t play him Saturday and Sunday this weekend after an injury

Yea maybe not but I wouldn’t want him playing in Barrie last game of the season regardless of who they’re playing because of an injury risk in your last meaningless game which would mean he’s either going back to back this weekend or next since they play 3 in 3 next week

Agree with this although I agree with Sam the price was a high one.
When a GM/owner consistently uses our high draft picks in exchange for the payment of educational packages, that generally results in: an overpayment, mistrust from a fan base and a team at a competitive disadvantage in comparison to other teams operating differently.

It is not fair to compare any other team to London. They have a special advantage that most teams don't have.
It's not a secret... What's wrong with building a strong defensive team? The second lowest GA is Kitchener, third is Windsor. All three teams have a long history of winning and high attendance. Do they all have a special advantage?

This is how I have IceDogs looking next year. You basically need 3 new top D men (I’ve put it as 2 OA’s and an import) (I also left off Frasca due to the rumours). Need 1 top Centre which could be trade or import. The rest is pretty solid and I could see Jeffery being an above average #1 next year. Obviously RW would be weak while I do see Doherty Arrow and Flora as potentially middle 6 RW none of them really has the skill to be a top line RW while Hotles size and effort level is perfect for 4th line. Although it could be said about Paris too about not being a top line RW but has played well when healthy.

Jeffery
Moffett
Humphries

OA-Import
Brauti-OA
McMahon/Cheynowski-Virgilio

He-Import-Doherty
Roobroeck-Czata-Arrowsmith
Wassilyn-Assadourian-Flora
Crete-Galiyanov-Hotles

You build a team from the goal line out. London has the lowest goals against - that's how you win hockey games.

For London, Brantford, Kitchener in particular, it starts behind the bench.
There is not much defence provided right now by Roobroek and Galiyanov, and almost none from Levin, Crete, and Wassilyn. Levin forechecks pretty well for his size though.
The IceDogs improved a lot this season. The 15 or so skaters returning another year more mature and experienced should show even better next season.

The IceDogs are once again in trouble with the league. This has to be the last straw. DD has shown over and over again that he can't run the team properly. He has to sell the team now!

…and there you have it. It’s now officially out there.

If anyone is surprised you shouldn’t be this is on EVERYONE INCLUDING THE LEAGUE

I loved how Jeffrey looked this year but I’m still bringing in a goalie this summer I think AA is your 1C (he already is) I’d be bring the import in on the RW

@beastintheeast This is exactly why many of us are so negative about the IceDogs. Things are not getting any better with this franchise. The team isn't experiencing the same problems as other teams. Things are very bad internally and will never be fixed until the owner sells.

David Branch took two months vetting Darren and was fully aware DD was incapable of running an OHL team but approved the sale anyways under the phony Gretzky smoke screen. Crawford has a chance to bring junior hockey back to Niagara.
