…it’s also true that games have been played with the visiting team present, when fans and referees should have not travelled

And school buses cancelled for no real threat other than liability of not fully complying to a zero risk policy.
That game was cancelled due to weather.

…school buses are cancelled even at the slightest risk. That would have nothing to do with the cancellation of a hockey game lol. White knuckled our way to many games at the MC on some awful winter nights in Niagara.

The one thing the IceDogs should be attempting to do, at the very least, retrieve a 2025 2nd round pick, that they foolishly gave away at the start of the season. Some quality 2009 players in the first 2 rounds.
The question is who on the IceDogs are you willing to give up that would warrant a 2nd round pick in return?

I don't think the Icedogs are going anywhere for 2 years. I would trade anyone but Roobroeck, He or Wassilyn to get the 2nd round pick.

You could also say an ‘09 born 2nd would not contribute much at all to the IceDogs for two years. The window of opportunity is the next two seasons with a core of 2006-08 born.

…that is the dilemma DD has put this organization in. He got completely duped into including a 2025 2nd round pick in the Bertuzzi, Brauti, Frolov deal. Any knowledgeable OHL GM knows that not all 2nd round picks are equal, especially those of the upcoming draft, for a team in the midst of a rebuild. At the time, he had so many other 2nd he could have included instead. But, here we are.

How do they recoup it? It’s tough, but here are their options that wouldn’t affect the team next season. The most obvious is Flores, but they won’t do that. Next, shop Loshko. If a team is willing to give the IceDogs a 2025 2nd take it! Another option, although unlikely to retrieve a 2nd, try to move one of NVV or Virigilo. Both players were overpays (NVV 3,4,5 and Virgilio 2,3,4) but if there is a team willing to give them a 2025 2nd, start the car and take it!

I agree to a certain degree. My only question for your assertion is who is going to keep the puck out of our net for the next two years if we don't have draft capital to upgrade our defence? I also believe goalie could be an issue in need of upgrade

I would trade Loshko in a heartbeat if he were to return a 2nd round pick

I 100% see your point and would suggest the issue is actually worse then you think here.
I don't think any of those guys get your 25 2nd back. OA goalies mid season don't get that return. Of all of them maybe a super desperate team at the last possible second would pony up for Loshko but that is a BIG IF..

I agree the 2nd in the flint trade should have been a 27 or something. The OA market does not appear to be seller friendly at the moment so I wouldn’t sell any of the OA’s at a discount and no one wants an OA goalie at the moment either as I imagine teams would look at Schenkel first. Loshko is a tough double as an OA and import when most teams aren’t looking for an OA upgrade. Maybe Oshawa would do some type of Svozil plus d’amato but than again not getting that plus a second.

Only way I see IceDogs getting a 25 2nd is if they trade one of their other 2nds +

The ‘25-2nd does not begin to address the need for a near future goalie. That is to be addressed in the import draft, or in an off-season trade, or Humphries.

I agree. Until we get a GM that can start answering some of these questions, I think we will be playing for 3rd place in the east, at best. There are a lot of questions that need answers and no draft capital to provide answers. While the team will be good for the next couple of years, I believe there is no way to make it great without trading some of our exceptional players (He and Roobroeck)for draft capital within a year of this trade deadline. I would want those trades made by a qualified GM not Wes (a Realtor) or an owner with a terrible ownership track record.

The more I think about it, the more I think I would trade He this year at the deadline. Get draft capital, maybe a decent 07 defenseman. Next two years need a full draft pick closet. I don't know how to fix the problem we are in so I will go to all of the games and enjoy the play of the players we have after the trade deadline

There is no real problem. The team has developing stars and complimentary pieces in place already; and there is at least equivalent to full compliment of picks.
Don’t force it. See Brampton, a stupid amount of picks can result in making stupid all-in trades pre-maturely.

Seems like most of us are saying Robertson isn’t the guy next year… he should be traded this year than to a team needing a solid serviceable backup. IceDogs have one 3 in 3 the rest of the year and that’s the last 3 games of the season. I’d rather what we can get for Robertson more than his maybe 5 starts the rest of the way.

Trading He at this deadline would be a mistake IMO. Play him the first half of next year and then when deciding on whether it’s your year either go for it at next deadline or trade He.
