Having a great season#SELLTHETEAM!!! Let's get rid of this clown show owner
Just a note to @Dogs Enthusiast regarding your comment at the tale end of the Part II thread. You said the team is only down a 2nd pick and you wonder what all the complaining is about. Here's an analogy for you:
You buy a house that's a fixer upper. You invest a lot of money and sweat into it over three years. It's on a great street so location is not the issue, yet it is valued less than you paid for it.
DDD bought a team that needed improving, spent time in the basement and drafted high, yet instead of having plenty of draft capital he is "only down a 2nd".
So going back to our house analogy, he bought things that didn't improve value and the workmanship was suspect. Yes, he paid a lot for that 1970's wood panelling and glued every sheet on himself. Too bad he made it worse.
Are you kind of getting it yet, or is no amount of explaining going to help you realize the source of our frustration?
As a Realtor, I understand and agree with your analogy. Bottom line, the owner is cheapJust a note to @Dogs Enthusiast regarding your comment at the tale end of the Part II thread. You said the team is only down a 2nd pick and you wonder what all the complaining is about. Here's an analogy for you:

I hope you are right but the only player enhancing the dogs performance is BrautiAnd no amount of explaining will help you understand draft capital used on Virgilio, Brauti, Doherty, Arrowsmith has three seasons of benefit.
How much of those stats rest on Flores' shoulders versus the lack of defensive play/talent?View attachment 956007
These are Flores career numbers Games GAA and SP. These numbers are not what is going to give a team a deep playoff run. The numbers don't lie, if you need to score 5 goals a game to win it's going to catch up with you come playoff time.
Excellent work by owner/GM DD. Overpaid for every one of those players except Doherty. Overpaid for NVV too.And no amount of explaining will help you understand draft capital used on Virgilio, Brauti, Doherty, Arrowsmith has three seasons of benefit.
Personally I'm okay with the price on Arrowsmith. I think we will see a big year from him next year, and I already like what he brings now. I could be wrong thoughExcellent work by owner/GM DD. Overpaid for every one of those players except Doherty. Overpaid for NVV too.
The 23 game stat was with the Knights. This was one of the reasons he was traded as well with the attitude that he deserved more games then he was going to get.How much of those stats rest on Flores' shoulders versus the lack of defensive play/talent?
I do like him too!! Glad they acquired him (07) but he was drafted in the 3rd round had done nothing in the OHL to increase his value and yet Hunter gets DD to give him 2 x3rd for a player who was worth the return of the 3rd used to draft him. These small overpays add up when you do them as often as DD does. It’s the reason we don’t have a surplusPersonally I'm okay with the price on Arrowsmith. I like Arrowsmith's potential but until he plays next year, we won't know if it was a good trade or a bad tradeI do like him too!! Team safety first, good decisionToday game in Owen Sound canceled by the weather
Next year I could see He and Roobroeck finishing 1-2 in OHL scoring. I'm not saying for sure, but it's a possibility. Roobroeck is on pace for 50 goals as a 17 year old. We haven't seen a player score 50 in Niagara since the first season with Caputi (someone correct me if I'm wrong).I am not a fan of the Virgilio trade or NVV but Doherty wasn’t a bad trade and arrowsmith has a lot of OHL potential so I think that’s a great use of picks, same with brauti.
Just cause they’re not going to be the next Wayne Gretzky or Bobby Orr doesn’t mean they’re not great pieces to a (still) very young icedogs team
Last 2 years drafting has been great with the exception of the import draft.
Roobroeck, Czata, Wasilyn, Crete, Galiyanov are all great draft picks that we know of. Hayden Reid they got a decent package for him as I believe he didn’t want to play for you guys? So didn’t lose him for nothing. Also from this past draft Hotles and Frasca I think will be good OHLers. Neither may get drafted to the NHL but that’s fine as not everyone does unless you’re playing for the Knights.
Only problem with those guys is there’s no defencemen that are 07 or 08 since you traded frolov for the better brauti (right now)
Need to draft a defenceman first round for sure in this coming draft and maybe trade for another 06/07 and hope they have a big breakout year along with 2 imports that show (G+D) and a good OA d next year
Should be pretty good the next 2 years if everything goes well but will really suck for you guys missing roobroeck and Kevin He after next year almost makes me want them to trade them at the deadline next year and load up for the year after when brauti is 20, Virgilio 20, czata 19, arrowsmith 19, Galiyanov 19, Crete 18, wassilyn 18, hotles 18, your FRP this year 17 and then you factor in imports and the rest of the guys. Solid group. Lots can change but if they traded roobroeck and He next year, even just 1 of those guys they’d get a kings ransom no doubt but especially for 2 and then maybe you guys can put a bid in for the 2027 Mem cup along with Kitchener
Why wouldn't the IceDogs have travelled up to Owen Sound last night after the London game. It's about 2.5 hours from London to Owen Sound. Instead the team travelled from London to St. Catharines last night which is about 1 hour and 45 minutes and then planned on travelling another 3 hours up to Owen Sound today. Even without the bad weather, it still would have been better for the team to travel an extra 45 minutes and go to Owen Sound last night. But I guess DD doesn't want to spend the money on hotel rooms for the players even if it helps them play better.Today game in Owen Sound canceled by the weather
It’s not just the travelling team. There is safety issues for fans and officials as well. Refs don’t all live in the city they ref in and often travel on game days. Why wouldn't the IceDogs have travelled up to Owen Sound last night after the London game. Such a shame. Things like this is why fans want DD to sell.
My point was even without the bad weather, the team should have went to Owen Sound last night directly from London. The original plan was to go from London to St. Catharines last night (almost 2 hours of travel) then go 3 hours up to Owen Sound today and then after the game, come home (3 hours again) and then play tomorrow at 2pm at home. Would it not have been better to go to Owen Sound after the game in London last night (2.5 hours) and then come back to St. Catharines after the game tonight. It’s not just the travelling team. I agree could see atleast both top 5 for sure. Potentially top 3 depending on how it goes. Neither may make world juniors with how loaded the team could be next year and that would keep them in the OHL for about 6 or 7 extra games I believe rather than some of their buddies going away. Think roobroeck has a better chance at making it personally with his size and shot they’d be stupid not to take him atleast on the third lineNext year I could see He and Roobroeck finishing 1-2 in OHL scoring. Not super elite like they’ll be in the discussion for world juniors but could be real good OHLers at the very least in their 18-20 year old seasonsThese rest of the players you listed are good, but not super elite like these 2 are (Wassilyn could be next year).
I think so too but lots of questions regarding imports, defence, OA’s and especially goaltending with Flores gone. Too early to project as this trade deadline isn’t even over yet lol let alone next but either way they’ll be good even if they traded Kevin He for instance next year and loaded up for year after at the slim chance roobroeck would be back as a 19 year old(I don’t see it but lots can happen in the next year)I've said it many times, next year is the year to go for it.
