Not to take away from the win, but this just has me more and more worried that DDD will do something delusional.

It's an impressive season but by seasons end this team won't be in first.

Barrie was missing 4 key players, and they also have better assets to build up at the deadline.
I agree with the second and third paragraphs but not the 3rd. IceDogs have more draft picks than Barrie and better 07 and 08 class. Barrie is still better and going for it would be a mistake but saying their assets are better to add to the team…. Difference is their first round pick isn’t really producing so trading Vaughn won’t hurt them much this year while trading Wassilyn would be so so so dumb and he is our first line RW.

The past two Barrie drafts were very good imo, and really do have more disposable assets to make additions if they choose. Though reluctantly, Barrie can and probably will part with prospect(s) because none are fixtures in the top six.
Wassilyn should not be L1-RW, he is clearly better at LW; and imo, should be L3-LW with Assadourian.

All teams can conveniently point to missed games as an excuse for losses. The IceDogs would be 32-0 if Assadourian and Paris played every game, right?

I think we are going to win tonight.

It looks like Brampton has 3 of their best players at the World Juniors, So the short bench will help us.

I will say .... 7 to 2 Dogs.
I’ll go 5-3 dogs.

What are people’s opinions on Mike Levin? Obviously he has a great shot and can be a good distributor but he is small (5 foot 8 157 pounds according to EP). He cheats a lot in the defensive zone where I see him hanging around by the blue line hoping for a counter. He has the worst +/- on the team. I don’t think he will be back as an OA but with 8 goals 11 assists he has value in a trade to a team looking for a 3rd line LW. If there was one player in a soft sell that would make the most sense it would be him IMO. A team like Kingston would make sense to play behind Miedema and Battaglia as the 3rd line LW. Still think Ethan Weir would be a good cheap get as a R shot 07 who has played with Roobs and is in a dire need of a scenery change.

Dogs leading the league in goals. Nobody saw that coming.

Coming into the season I knew they finally had some offensive firepower. Didn’t expect this. You have to figure getting Loshko and pairing him with Keven He is a difference maker. It allowed us to also have a stacked second line.

We are so deep up front.

Our Coach was just on cktb, he said that last summer the management came up with short term and long term goals. The short term goals are working out. So those of you who think the management is clueless and constantly reactionary (which has been my main complaint) are probably wrong.

They have done something correct. And it is not just one thing. It can't all be luck.

Half way thru the season and they are back into first place. Just a month ago people on this site were predicting a slow plunge down the standings and they would be lucky to keep a playoff spot.

Examples:

> I count 5 (probably 6) teams that are going to overtake the IceDogs this season
> if they are in first or second at the midway point, I'll be SHOCKED,
> Love the confidence but I don’t think they have a realistic shot of 2-4 in the conference (MAYBE 3rd in the division)
> Hard to believe people here think Niagara is stronger then Brampton.

No one will argue their first half short term success but there is no evidence they currently have a long term plan in place
IceDogs have no draft capital surplus; no 2nd pick in 2025; an imbalance long term roster with no 07 or 08 D to complement their impressive 07 and 08 F. Until they address those issues, there is no long range plan. So that complaint remains nothing has changed in that respect since the start of the season
