Very hot today... But what do you think is going to happen at the trade deadline @Dogs Enthusiast ? Do you think he's going to push his chips to the center of the table, or just call?
Well if the team is “excellent” as DE insists, then THIS is the year to go all in I guess. An “excellent” team is what an OHL GM adds pieces to for a championship run.

I'm more curious to see what the more enlightened fans like @Dogs Enthusiast and @Countyview have to say. I could easily predict what a fellow naysayer would suggest, but let's hear from the real team authorities, get their predictions in print.

While i tend to agree with much of what you say, they are still just opinions. I would prefer to wait to see results a year or two down the road before I take myself too seriously.

I hope they continue to play well this year and that they do not sustain any injuries. Our depth is not great and I hope it does not get tested. I just don't see how this team performs without Flores and I don't know how they replace him next year with the draft pick capital we have. Only time will tell.

Actually, I was referring to all cut backs that we have seen over DD's three seasons, player educational packages trades, recruitment issues, scouting staff, draft (US players), import signings, media/scout area presentation, bus meals, etc... not just specifically to the arena (e.g., game day presentation, donation 2.00 vouchers promo 500% increase to $10.00) are all 100% on DD. Since day one, DD came in an immediately cut cost! 100's of STH who saw this simply refuse to support that. He needs to spend money to make money in this market

And it never ends...a few more front office employees are no longer with the IceDogs. DD will now assume the job of billet coordinator to add to owner/GM. wtf

> recruitment issues,

Have you seen our roster?

> import signings,

Our current import is fantastic

Just for the record I completely 100% agree with what you’ve written in this post!

I will not be happy if we trade away a top player just to have a shot at losing to the West champion this year. I would rather go for it next year. Maybe add a little depth this year, nothing crazy.

Respectfully, you are so completely out of touch with what has transpired over each of the last year.
Outside of the shit show situation that was Gabriel Eliasson things have been going really well since the end of last season

-great draft
- Loshko
- I know you don’t like the whole 3 way Brauti, Scott trade, but I’d do it again in a heartbeat
- NVV might have been a slight over pay but he’s being a defensive leader
- Virgilio may have been an overpay but he’s getting better and better.
- Player development going great
- Arrowsmith its early but if the 07 line operates like this for the next 2+ years 3rdx2 and a 5th would be a Huge steal

Imports have to be maximized for next year push to be possible and as someone else has suggested maybe getting a goalie through that would be possible. The last 8 months of DD has been much better than the rest of his tenure which was an endless list of mostly bad trades and questionable decisions. Whether this means that it’s a new age or DD will go back to his previous ways remains TBD.

I would soft sell with shedding guys like Levin and Robertson if the price is right as I just see no way they OA for us. Robertson deserves a look by someone who will actually play him. Would only buy an 06 or 07 you know that’s staying next year+

LOL, I follow the IceDogs as close as any other fan. I am far from out of touch.
No. You are completely out of touch. Not many on here would disagree. Your defence of the IceDogs import situation alone is laughable! Their recruitment issues have been and are still a major concern. How can you say you follow this team and not know what everyone in Niagara and the OHL in general know.

> Your defence of the IceDogs import situation alone is laughable!

Defending it by pointing out that our current import is stellar.

> Their recruitment issues

We got Roebroeck and Wassilyn to sign and show up. Both were very highly ranked players.
Roobroeck has played well this year. His play has improved in the defensive zone and his skating has dramatically improved from last year. Wassilyn has been a stat machine but is invisible in the defensive zone. I hope they give him time and use Roobroeck as an example of how improving your play in the defensive zone will improve your offensive numbers...Wassilyn could also use some power skating sessions.

I have neither the strength or desire to detail the problems again regarding imports and recruitment issues alone for you because you just don’t seem to understand or want to understand the problems right in front of you.

They were questioning our ability to recruit players and have them show up here. Clearly that problem has been resolved.

You don't even agree the recruitment problem (that I too was worried about) has been solved? Come on. Two great drafts in a row of top players.

Love this:

Niagara IceDogs – up six spots to #6 this week
The Dogs went 3-0 on the road last week, defeating North Bay, Sault Ste, Marie and Sudbury while scoring 21 goals over three games. Sophomore forwards Ryan Roobroeck (4-5–9) and Ethan Czata (5-4–9) both racked up nine points on the trip while Kevin He (3-5–8) had eight. The IceDogs sit tied with Barrie atop the Central Division standings.

I like this part from the Colts writeup.

" Circle your calendars for Thursday as the Niagara IceDogs are at Sadlon Arena for a battle of solid Central Division squads."

DE I just can’t go down a road that has been detailed by many others aside from me on here, many times before. Yes recruitment is a problem in Niagara! It has NOT been solved. As I previously wrote “I have neither the strength or desire to detail the problems”. If you think the problem is solved then just go with that.

Player decisions over the past 18 months have been excellent, a total rebuild that seems to have been successful

Planning on attending some games in 2020s so your observations have some credibility (this is according to you?). Heed your own advice.

FYI. Until you show up to games regularly at the MC, live in Niagara or have been a STH in the past, your thoughts and opinions on here are worthless and mocked by many at the arena on game days!
