Dallas leaves, we gain Canadian teams. So the Canucks potentially become bigger rivals.... I don't think Edmonton or Calgary are going to get their **** together anytime soon.

Can't complain about a division that pits us with more games against two worse teams & another team we all hate.

I guess I'm fine with those teams. Calgary and Edmonton are very poorly run, Phoenix is always good for a laugh, and we all hate the other 3 so that's good. I'm glad we don't have 8 but I really saw no problem with the old format. Shuffle some teams around to get Winnipeg in the west and you're good. Hopefully this doesn't last cause I'd really rather not have this crap.

Also important to note we'll get to see all 29 other teams in Staples next year. That's good for me since I'm probably moving to New England next year and then I can catch the Kings in Boston.

My pimp just gave me more details on the playoffs

The Stanley Cup Playoffs will reportedly still consist of 16 teams, eight in each conference, but the League is proposing a wildcard system in which the top three teams in each division make the playoffs and the remaining spots are filled by the two teams in each conference with the next best record.

Code:
Western Conference
Pacific Midwest
Anaheim Ducks Chicago Blackhawks
Calgary Flames Colorado Avalanche
Edmonton Oilers Dallas Stars
Los Angeles Kings Minnesota Wild
Phoenix Coyotes Nashville Predators
San Jose Sharks St. Louis Blues
Vancouver Canucks	Winnipeg Jets

If we go by the current standings, The Ducks, Kings, and Vancouver would be the Pacific Division Leaders. Chicago, Dallas, and St Louis would be the Midwest leaders and SJ and Phx would be the wildcards.

That being said the Pacific is a way tougher division than the Midwest. Thank gatos for the wildcards

I am just loving reading all the east fans scream about this. Yet most everyone of them was ok with the proposal last year that did the exact same thing to the west and we had the harder travel. The entitlement of the east teams is just sick.

They can get over it.

This vastly improves travel for (new) Pacific and Midwest (Central?) division teams.

Don't like it. Baseball finally fixed their 16-14 split. But this is where the NHL is going. I really hope there will be two expansion teams by 2014-15 so we can go to four divisions. Yeah, I like divisions. Come at me, bro.

We all know it is going to be 16-16 in a few years.
But I think they still keep the conferences. It would not be good for the league overall to end up with an all east time cup final.

I think it is great. And I love that we see every team at home at least once a season. I think playoff match ups in the first two rounds are going to be insanely violent since they will all be within the division (save for the odd wildcard)

Man, I lasted about halfway through the 2nd page of the thread on the main board before I just couldn't stand all the whining and entitlement and "it's not FAAAAIIIIRRRR" complaints from fans all over the continent.

Suck it up, watch the games your team has on its schedule, win in the playoffs, profit.

I would love for a rivalry to start with the Canucks.

Start?

Playoff matchups two out of the last three seasons running has that rivalry blooming nicely, I'd say.

Not quite Vancouver-Chicago, however.

Meh.. i don't think so. it's been pretty tame.. even in the playoffs. at least for my liking.

I'd imagine either Portland or Seattle get a team soon, or Colorado will eventually move into this division when expansion inevitably arrives.

Be fair most of it was coming from those in the east. And a few Chicago fans upset over loosing Detroit.
