Nhlpa and Blackhawks Agree to Settlement for Corey Perry Termination Will Include Cap Charge to Chicago No Grievance Will be Filed

Then Chicago shouldve just retained max and traded him for future consideration. Instead, they let people speculate he was thought to be a sex pest who hooked up with a team mom.
It sounds like you're suggesting they should of done the same type of wrong doing that they did before which gives them no benefit of the doubt.

And that would not prevent random speculation on a sudden unexpected trade.

Bullshit that he gets anything for his actions here. And it's crazy that the Hawks get penalized (besides a pure financial penalty) the one time they handled things properly. I don't care too much about a cap penalty seeing as the Hawks have a seemingly infinite amount of it, just ironic that THIS is what they were penalized for.
Yes, they were penalized so much for their previous indiscretions. The NHL is truly too harsh when it comes to disciplining the Hawks.

This can't be right...

Neither Ottawa or Arizona were forced to give up their first rounders?

Soft league is soft.

"According to Daily Faceoff’s Frank Seravalli, it appears it will result in a “small salary cap charge” coming the way of the Blackhawks, who terminated Perry’s contract on Nov. 29. The Blackhawks will receive a cap charge of $25,000 in the 23-24 season, while the remaining 4.5 million will be panalized against the Vancouver Canucks' cap over the next three seasons."

what I don't understand in this whole situation is how whatever Perry did can be deemed so egregious that his contract can be terminated, while also apparently not being so serious that it's ok for him to be back in the NHL a little over 2 months later.

Connor Bedard doesn't play for any of the other teams.

Hawks terminated him, less solely because of his actions (which he's an asshole for doing), and likely more because he did it to an employee of the organization and his continued presence would have lead to a toxic work environment.

He hasn't had any of these types of interactions with any members of the Oilers staff, so that wouldn't be an issue.

Edit's after looking at the post above: No, it's nothing to do with Bedard or his family. Really tired of those jokes.

They probably meant to say top 3 picks, meaning you add Barker, Toews, and Dach. Maybe others, but those are the only ones off the top of my head. Still, not sure I'd consider it some sort of conspiracy.
Barker was the Hawks’ “consolation prize” for losing Malkin when the Pens jumped in front of them.

So basicly the hawks are penalized due to Perry being a tool and not understanding that there is a time and place to be a Substance User and that Perry does not know what it takes to reminan professional at work functions.....

What a joke.

They should terminate Bedard’s contract and make him go through the draft again. Bedard should’ve never been a Blackhawk.

This dude is gonna be so unhappy when Vancouver boy Celebrini joins Vancouver boy Bedard on the Blackhawks

Blackhawks always seem to get the #3 pick in weak drafts.

At least it worked out big time in 2006.

People really need to understand what it means to be "penalized." There is a fanatical victimhood mentality going around, as if acts are being forced on to teams who have no prior knowledge of what happened and no choice in what happens in the settlement of a claim.

Teams should be able to terminate any contract they want, for any reason they want

meh, if it was me I would man up and say: you know what Chicago, NHL and NHLPA, this was my error, Chicago deserves no penalty, I made an error in judgement, have received and maintain support on my journey to get well. As such I take full responsibility for my actions and the ripple affects to the Chicago Blackhawks organization. I want no further payment from the hawks and wish them well. My request is that the NHLPA not file a claim and hope they and the NHL can respect my decision in that regard. Furthermore, I am partnering with the NHL players assistance program to further develop its services they provide currently & in the future for all present and future players. Respectfully...

Chicago deserves no benefit of the doubt after the bullshit they hid for years.

Seems sketch from Perry’s side.

From my understanding, he f***ed up. Contract was terminated
He somehow still gets money for doing said f*** up?
And still we have no idea what happened for him to have his contact terminated?

Now he’s on the Oilers
Talk about a huge win for Perry

Has always been my take. How can the league say they support the termination but don’t suspend him or give him any punishment. Are they saying they are, or aren’t okay?
