auxiliary agreements are unofficial like Carolina has w/ Bloomington.... it depends on the philosophy of the organization after what transpired between CAR/Rosemont.... that agreement states that up to 10 players.... can be assigned..... it's rare but it depends on each agreement since the Rangers/HFD are the primary affiliate.... UHC/AZ didn't have a ECHL Affiliate or enough players to likely stock a primary affiliate if one was available, in that case, players can be assigned to any existing franchise

I thought there could be more than one NHL team tied to an ECHL franchise.

There aren't enough ECHL teams to have one-to-one affiliates.

If no set affiliate, there's usually an unofficial affiliation to have 1-2 (extra) prospects, especially goalies.

However, teams can sign guys to AHL PTO from their affiliate or any non-NHL/AHL signed player.
