yonder.tv works well with nhl.tv and isn't expensive. Think it also works with NFL stuff, MLB, etc. they have instructions on how to setup most devices. I also learned from there that you can open a webpage in safari in "desktop mode" and by doing that on nhl.com you can stream from their website rather than the app and it doesn't do location service blocking (so a vpn or dns solution will work). NHL's streaming from their website has never been as good through the app though so that's annoying.
That all said I'd honestly be fine with giving the NHL the bit of extra money if they would give me a package with no blackouts and all playoff games. I'm just not gonna shell out another $100 a month or whatever for cable anymore when I don't watch anything on it
