I'm about to sign up for NHL.tv because Hulu doesn't carry MSG. Does anyone here have any experience with NHL.tv and running it through a VPN? I have Browsec on my computer. I have to use a VPN as I live in NYC and obviously don't want Rangers games to get blacked out.

Advice? Caveats?

Thanks in advance.

I use NHL Live (Canadian version) with a VPN when I’m down here and it works perfectly fine.

Easy way to test is to get NHL TV once your sure you want it, then do a free trial with a VPN to make sure it connects.

You can definitely use a VPN to spoof your location. I do it all the time with PIA (Private Internet Access) for YouTube streams and whatnot.

Yeah I have an ad blocker on my phone that is a VPN and as part of the optional subscription service it allows me to choose from several locations.

The most important thing with NHL.tv is...

...god I hope it friggin works on Thursday. Because it's NHL and Bettman, so you just never know if they will get their shit together.

Can't speak to using the website to access your NHL.tv subscription - but I will say that the NHL app requires you to enable your device location services when accessing the streams... Trying to change my location with a VPN has not circumvented the blackout restrictions in the past (unless something has changed)

NHL.tv works fine with most VPNs on computer. If you are using your phone to watch you will need location spoofer. I use 'Fake GPS' app on android. I use PIA vpn on PC.

I stumbled upon this because of WJC but fubotv is a solid option that with the sports package has MSG and NHL Network. Around $80 I believe and there's no reason it can't be your main cable provider. DVR etc just like Hulu Live or Youtube TV.

Technically, you don't need a full blown VPN, a SmartDNS is good enough to get around blackouts. But if you're gonna be doing it over public networks and/or concerned about someone seeing what you're doing, you might want a VPN.

With SmartDNS, NHL's servers are going to send back the video right to your device. With a VPN, NHLs servers first send the video through the VPN provider's network and then back to your device, encrypted.

VPN worked for me until the playoffs when every game was considered "National coverage" and they were just all blacked out. The most exciting time of the year is blacked out. Lamest thing about NHL.tv

Thanks for the advice everyone. I'm going to attempt NHL.tv through a VPN on my laptop. I'll also try SmartDNS.

I did the FUBO free trial for the playoffs against Carolina. I'd switch, but there's so much Hulu content that my family wouldn't want to lose. I'm only on Season 3 of Letterkenny, can't leave now.

Thanks again, everyone.

Hey guys, as a 10 year long cord cutter - we can't get cable here anyway and our networks don't carry NHL anymore i can recommend hehestreams. Its straightforward and there are no blackouts. Never had any issues in 3 years live or on demand.

Edit: I think there are referral coupons so send me a DM if you have any questions

I bought the Rangers NHL.TV package for the last two years. With my new Roku TV, I could watch it on my Big TV instead of my computer.

It's a much better experience and the couch is more comfortable than an office chair.

I live in Colorado, and Comcast quit carrying all the Avalanche games last year. I had to buy a long HDMI cable and find low-res pirate streams all year.

This year, I bought the full NHL package and a VPN. Come to find out that I can't install a VPN on the Xfinity Router.

I either purchase a second router, or I use that HDMI cable across my living room all season.

one way or the other, I will be watching a lot of hockey very soon!

I'll be watching on my TV from my laptop vis AppleTv.

I decided to give Windscribe a try, I purchase NHL Center Ice through DIRECTV, you'll never get me to switch, I'm a 49ers fan living in NY, so I need my 49ers, plus Rockets, but as for Rangers, weirdest thing, some games on MSG get blacked out, idk why, but I had to start purchasing NHL CI each year, ridiculous, anyway, I decided to try out the Windscribe, in case I have a Rockets & Rangers game on the same time, so one would be on the TV & other on iPad, has anyone had any type of luck with this VPN when it comes to masking your location on an iPad for something like NHL Center Ice or NBA League Pass(I should try, just haven't gotten around to doing so). Thanks, and can't wait for Thursday night, I wish the season was the full 82, or at least 72 like the NBA season. Looking forward to seeing Alexis, Kakko, Miller, Lindgren, Fox, to see how they develop, also want to see if Trouba can play better, of course excited for Mika, Buch, Kreider, & Panarin. Hoping DeAngelo proves his worth at $4.8M AAV, and also Strome at $4.5M AAV. This has me thinking about recent deals we've seen, like at C, Barzal got $7M AAV, Dubois got $5M AAV, then Defenders like John Marino getting $4.4M AAV on an extension, going to be crazy to see what guys like Buch, Chytil, Howden, Gauthier, Lindgren, & Igor will want next offseason when they're all RFAs, and after next season we have Mika up, and Fox is a RFA, same Kakko. I wonder if they deal Buch if they feel they can't retain him. Anyway, happy Hockey, Go Rangers!!!!!!!

My credit card still wasn't charged the $99.99 for this year by NHL.tv ... Anyone else?
Effing NHL.tv site, couldn't even find out if I'm subscribed or not...

when I saw this, I tried to login to my account. It said my email address didn't exist. I just watched it on my TV a week ago.

I had added the total NHL package to my Rangers package using my new email address a few weeks ago. I was able to login with my new email address. It said I don't have a current subscription.

So I sent an email on the eve of the NHL season. Their web site is no very user friendly. I hope gets resolved today!

There never was a auto-renewal of any kind... i manually bought the $99.99 season package myself. Webiste and their agents are useless/non-existent.

Nord VPN not working with NHL App. Anyone know a vpn that does? Forgot which I used last year.
