Canucks fans are over EP40. I think this is a great time to buy low. I don’t think it would take Cozens+Byram or really anything close to that.
Still won’t be cheap, it has to include either one of McLeod or Samuelsson.

It’s not Zibanejad. Pettersson is 26 and is obviously out of shape or injured. He did not take his off season seriously and should come back much stronger. But a market like Vancouver may force him out of town before next year

11.6 though and not every person is wired to bounce back mentally, it’s a decent chunk of risk but higher reward situation IMO

Cozens+Samuelsson would work for our owner too because that’s dollars in, dollars out.

Lindgren is a career plus/minus 100+ defenseman. At age 27, he’s entering the back end of his prime years as he was drafted and playing at age 20. This is a nice pickup, especially for the price. Parssinen is a dead, lightweight player who, at best, is a fourth liner. Vesey? Multiple 20+ point seasons but probably a throw in to make the trade happen.

The Rangers got nothing in this deal. Calvin is de Haan is a washed up defenseman who has lost a step (he wasn’t fast to begin with) and is turnover prone. Every time he had the puck it was nervous time waiting for him to turn it over or fail to clear the zone. Parssy is a weak forward who gets easily rubbed out in the corners and blasted out in front of the net. So NY is left with conditional 2nd and 4th round draft choices. What's the hit rate on those?

Well, we need information, maybe it's his knee and it will only get worse, then there's no point in us trading for him at all.
Yes, of course you want his medical records before a trade. I am not sure its a common practice but its not unique to ask. I am looking at the situation that EP has lost motivation because of the spat with Miller and its not an injury.

Its slim pickens out there for a 1C but yeah don't want damaged goods either.

It'd work and obviously I do that deal........

But I don't see any way that Vancouver is interested in another defenseman. They've got Hughes/Hronek. They've got MPete to anchor their 2nd pair and Myers signed for 2 more years with another year of an NMC. Soucy has a full NTC this season. Willander is coming sooner rather than later. EP25 has gotten games in this year and might be something.

I think it'd have to be something like Cozens and Quinn or JJP. I cannot imagine Vancouver interested in another defenseman at all.

Well, his speed numbers are down and that's why I'm concerned about his knee and it's probably not just Miller's situation. I think Tocchet even said that.

The time for EP40 has passed.
There is no perfect star player the Sabres can get their hands on. There’s always going to be a giant risk attached to big moves they need to make. But they still need to make them. They’re in last place. the time for inaction and risk aversion has passed. The odds that he turns his game around are infinitely higher than they can find a better option.

If the time for EP40 has passed…the time for employing Cozens is much farther gone

You can get a deal with Cozens as the main piece? Take it and f***ing run.

I think you have to know what the core issue is before declaring that.

Is there some sort of long term injury and his skating is shot? He's barely missed any games the last three seasons.

Is the obvious issue where he got a big contract and just took the summer off and is mailing it in? Was that the reason why he had issue with JT Miller? Is it a coaching issue?

I get it and I agree. There are risks and there are really big risks. This is a huge risk. Cozens has nothing to do with it...he can be dealt anywhere else for anything else.

Definitely need more information.. information we will not be privy too. Without that information I am not taking that risk.
If he is mailing it in I don't see him finding any extra motivation by coming to Buffalo.
He is set for life... we don't need another expensive piece with no fire in their belly.

Robinson has proven recently to have some reliable intel. I just still can’t see a fit without Cirelli or Cernak, and there’s no way Tampa is doing that.

Well, Tampa sometimes trades its key players and one might even say quite often. Of course, Cirelli or Cernak should be in the deal.
