I would hope for his sake Zucker will be open to a trade depending on the team. 33, no cup, and playing for a bottom feeder that sees no way out. Honesty, not sure I am interested in a player at that age, without a cup, that would sign with the Sabres.

Who are you replacing Zucker with? Considering we need more vets on the roster, not less.

For the rest of the year? Rosen.

For next year? TBD

He probably can get a 2nd-3rd then resign him in the off season?
No, not until the end of the season, but next season. Why is everyone hoping we trade him and then re-sign him in the offseason, it just almost never happens and he will probably have a lot of new options. Re-sign him now or trade him at TDL, but he will not be coming back.

I like Zucker, it's that I don't really see why he would want to stay.
He chose to sign here. He has a family. It's very possible he has grown to love it in Buffalo and doesn't want to relocate his kids again. Not every single player is driven solely by winning Cups, but that doesn't mean they won't bring it every night.

I like both Zucker and Greenway. Id be looking to sign both as UFA’s in the summer depending on the cost. That being said, i hope they trade them both by the deadline for the best offer.

Why? Because he is a free agent and keeping him solves nothing if he doesn't want to be here. What is the point of letting UFAs walking to free agency and not getting assets.

If he does want to be here then he can come back as a free agent.

If Zucker doesn't resign the same people will be complaining why Adams didn't get something for him at the trade deadline.

When it comes down to it I am sure Adams talks with both Greenway and Zucker and neither walks for nothing.

I’m sure Zucker could have signed with a contending team if he had been willing to play for less. Every year, good hockey players sign contracts with teams that are not contenders. Stability, fit, location, money. There are lots of reasons for why a guy might choose to stay in Buffalo.

Extending Zucker would be just like extending Matt Moulson. Trade him while his value is high. Don't be dumb Adams.
Thats the thing. Zucker is gonna fall off sooner or later. He is 33 how much left in the tank?

I don't mind resigning him but have to be careful.

Did you read what I wrote? Sign him before TDL or trade him at TDL if he doesn't want to sign now, it doesn't seem that hard. I'm 99% sure that if he doesn't want to sign now and we trade him at TDL, he won't be coming back to Buffalo this summer. We'll find someone else.

Did you read what I wrote? At Zucker's age its a courtesy to ask him if he wants to be traded to a contender.

It doesn't mean he wouldn't resign in the off season. Its not complicated.

What does courtesy have to do with it, if we need to either re-sign him or trade him to where we get better value.

When a player reaches a certain age thats the way it works. Just like with Okposo he was asked if he wanted to be traded even though he didn't have a NTC. Buffalo could have traded him regardless of what Okposo wanted.

Its how you stop being a clown organization. Adams has already said he had discussions with Zucker.

Its not hard to understand. If you want veterans to sign here then you show them respect. You ask them if they want a shot at the cup or not. You ask them if you want to stay. You ask them if they want to return in the off season. Its a conversation I am sure Adams has had with Zucker.

You give Zucker what he wants not what Buffalo wants. Of course there are exceptions to the rule. Its being made into a bigger deal than it is but This is how professional organizations handle veterans.

What does this have to do with it, I'm saying the same thing and you're writing this to me for some reason. Of course, you communicate with him and ask him what he wants, and on that basis you make a decision.

Maybe I misunderstood you when you wrote this.

There are four options

1. Resign him
2. Trade him and resign him
3. Trade him and don't resign him
4. Let him walk to free agency

You seem to think option 2 is off the table. I don't. You aren't saying the same thing. I am explaining why option 2 isn't off the table.

I think option two is unlikely, but again you talk to him and make the best decision. Maybe he wants to re-sign now and you do it or he wants to think about it and then you trade him to a contender and maybe come back and ask him in the summer.

Todd, you have understand that option 2 is unlikely. Then we can move on from this monotony.

Its also unlikely Adams does anything at the trade deadline, gets fired or this team makes the playoffs next year.

Unlikely sure, fjordsen posts 2-3 times a week about firing Adams in the Adams thread even though we know thats not gonna happen.

Does that mean we single out posters posting about it???

I don't get the hang up talking about this.
