He might. There was a time when slotted way, way down the Tampa lineup that Brokegosian looked like a legit defenseman too.

I was thinking from the 4 Nations hype bump, and the fact he's likely only worth a mid round rental pick at best , there is another extension coming

They gave him a 1yr deal last summer that walked him to FA this summer so hes not in the long term plans.

Biggest name out there now seems to be Seth Jones with a nearly unmovable contract. (will take retention, and possible 3rd club to take on salary per Dregs)

I Said hopefully sabres dont trade for Petterson as he Will not suit us and I dont think he is good now and many here on the forum didnt agree. Look at his play at 4 nations any here WHO still wanna trade for him ?

I was perusing the Kings board and someone proposed a base of Byfield+Spence for Cozens+Byram with +s on either side as necessary. Wanted to share because I thought it was unique.

Spence isn't much to write home about for me. Kind of an upgraded version of Bryson. Small, quick...better on defense than offense.....I'm not all that sure he rises much above good 3rd pairing guy once away from LA.
Byfield is an absolute gamble. Remember those old-school RPGs where there was always that one weapon that either missed or landed a critical hit.....and nothing in between? That's Byfield to me. He either hits and becomes a legit #1 C......or he completely whiffs and is bought out and over in Europe in short order.

Joker isn't as bad as we complain he is. He's just played way too far up the lineup, in a role he's not suited for.
He's pretty good for a bottom pairing PMD. But we play him in a top 4 role as the shutdown guy paired with other young PMDs.
He's like Colin Miller. He looked bad here in a top 2 or top 4 role. But he'll look good in a bottom pairing role on a playoff team.

I would totally bite on that trade. Byfield has the highest ceiling out of those 4, and his floor is no lower than Cozens going forward. It would hurt to lose Byram. Spence is not flashy, but he would instantly be middle-pairing level on the Sabres with room to grow going forward.

If I were a pending UFA in Buffalo I would have no interest in signing another contract. So the question is, what is the trade value (picks) of?

Greenway is probably a 2nd-ish.
Jokiharju as a RHD probably gets a 4th. Maybe later.

Well last season Zucker wasn't as good as he was this season, so I think maybe we can get 2nd for him.
Getting 2nd for Greenway could be prevented by an injury and missing games, maybe we'll get a 3rd.
I don't even know what to think about Jokiharju. RDs are usually valuable, but sometimes they can be picked up on a waiver (Fabbro), maybe if Adams retain we can get a 3rd, but I'm not sure he will retain.

I’d move Zucker and Jokiharju, and probably try to re-sign Greenway. Greenway would be a buy low type of re-signing because he hasn’t had a great last few seasons. But I think he’s very valuable in the bottom 6, similar to the role he played in Minnesota.
Zucker can be a Moulson style trade and sign in the off-season.
Jokiharju needs to be on the bottom pair and sheltered a bit to be effective. But the Sabres don’t have that type of defense.
