My point is that stat is out of context so it can be interpreted many ways.
The context is that it's a number and what context is actually needed?
Posts were hit and they were recorded.
Also your assertion can apply to almost anything and everything which IMO makes a dubious argument.
Most people who watch hockey could read my statment about what hit posts indicate wouldn't find much argument with reading it or hearing it.
Any answer to this? I’d be interested to know if SOG is calculated as goals + posts + blocks + misses + saves, or if some of these can occupy multiple categories.
I do hear regularly on broadcasts that hitting the iron doesn't count as a shot and it's true.
I think the block and misses might not be accurate but who knows if they run double counts or more to compare or if mistakes are common but realistically the numbers around shots can be verified by watching game film enough to understand what type of shooter certain players are.
