With people clamouring for Columbus to get a new logo based around the cannon, I've taken the time to design one. I'll be honest, the shape is inspired heavily by the current Panthers and some throwback NYR logos. I really think it's smooth though and incorporates the primary colours with a little gold to make it pop. Let me know what you think.

The Thrashers had a beautiful logo, home jerseys, and colour scheme. It's a shame no team uses powder blue as their primary colour currently.

Agreed, but it should have been the modernized version of the 2D logo, that was barely used anywhere.

Yeah, I was never as big a fan of the more rounded logo. Just seemed a bit busy. Still better than the 3D.

It's really annoying. The obvious answer is "Jersey sales" but I hate it.
I've always been a fan of the original logo over the new logo - which to me, has always and will always look like a high schooler drew it with colored pencils in their notebook.
Old: clean, balanced, instant classic especially with the original teal, awesome.
New logos just look like cartoons.
I will, however, say that they absolutely crushed it with the Thursday Cali Fin sweaters. Excellent, clean look with subtle nods to Latino cultural roots of the area. I wouldn't mind if these were the standard darks.
The joke is that he took the Arsenal logo and just put "Columbus" on it.
If they dropped the black in that for blue it would be a 10/10 banger jersey. Nothing says cheap and lazy like defaulting to black gloves and hockey pants.
I actually really like the current lightning jerseys, they are a bit minimalist but they're at least clean and distinctive, which is more than I can say for most new jersey designs of the last 20 years.
I hate everything about Washington’s branding, logo, and jerseys. I can’t wait for them to get rid of these abominations.
Apple is one of the most soulless megacorps on the planet, but everything they put out still looks slick and visually pleasing.
Let's face it, whoever designs NHL jerseys right now just sucks at their job.

Slight quibble: lawsuits aren’t especially more prevalent now than they were ”in the old days.”
What’s changed is that merchandising is now a massive revenue stream for teams, and thus teams have a vested interest in protecting their IP.
If branded hoodies and t shirts were fashionable in the 20’s and 30’s you can be sure there would’ve been far fewer “duplicate” mascots across sports.

Agreed, the current set is awful. It is absolutely mind-boggling how they don't embrace the 'weagle' as their primary logo--It's a great logo. Other than that, burn the current set to the ground.

They had such a unique and good looking blue with the og screagle. Why they dropped it for the black alternate I’ll never understand. Then the RbK era completely wrecked them. Most teams had their worst ever designs during the rbk era but the caps kept theirs into the adidas and fanatics era. Which is totally inexcusable.
The Caps have had great jerseys throughout their history with the current ones being the only crap kit. Even these made the word mark look decent. The current Reebok jersey with the piping and the random splotches of color under the arms make me want to stick a fork in my eyes.

I disagree that those are good jerseys. I’ll admit I have a high threshold for what I consider a great jersey. The biggest issue I have with these is the yoke. Jerseys that have a yoke go right into the main torso of the jersey without a highlighting colour or stripe is a pet peeve of my mine. It looks unfinished. And it being a white yoke is really lame imo. The logo and word mark also make everyone look wearing it look fat. I get it’s a classic look but it’s not a good one IMO. It doesn’t help that the name and numbers are boring block letters in white. It’s uninteresting to look at all.
I agree with the current jerseys. Watching them play Montreal and Carolina really shows how bad they are.
I’m still harping that the 90s kolzig era jerseys were the best they ever wore. The logo was great and the colour scheme was even better. Then they dropped the blue for black ( black jerseys are awful by default)
They need a major rebrand I’m talking new logo, new colours new everything and it might happen after overcoming retires.

The 90s era teal jerseys are awful and ruined what is a good logo and a unique pattern. The team doesn't need new colors either, they should always be red white and blue.

Nashville needs to go back to the Blue/Silver from the early days and they need to change the logo. Always liked this one they had on the shoulders.

Hard disagree. But ultimately I don’t really care as I’m not a Washington fan and never will be.
But imo too many teams have that colour scheme and it really waters down jersey matchups. Which I won’t lie is what I’m really watching when I’m not watching the oilers. I’ve always been big a jersey guy in all sports. So when it’s a lot of the same colours it does ruin it for me. But I get that I’m in the minority here and I’m not trying to change anyone’s mind.

Yeah. The marigold or yellow or whatever they call it is not it.
The blue and silver was extremely sharp and they had a unique template. Also a fun fact, Thier first year they wore Bauer jerseys. The only nhl team to wear a Bauer branded jersey.
If I had to pick between going back entirely to the original look of the Lightning or the current one, I'd take the old one logo and all, but the new logo itself isn't bad, it's the blandness surrounding it that makes it worse. Honestly the current 3rd jerseys are almost the perfect compromise. Slap some white shoulder yokes on it and make an away version and I'd be pretty happy. It'd be clean and crisp but also have an actual color scheme and tradition to it.
The whole "clip art" complaint gets thrown at literally every Lightning logo in existence so I don't understand what anyone means by it. There's only so many ways to depict Lightning, it has to be some kind of cartoony bolt because realistic lightning is impossible to distinguish at a distance or draw consistent. Unless you wanna go on a tangent and go with a Thor or Zeus or lightning bug theme which is bleh IMO.

This jersey has always reminded me of Disney's Beauty and the Beast.
Bring it back, couple of roses on the shoulder patch... very pretty.
I jest, I jest. But this indeed was one of the Sabre's good ones.
They could use a logo that inspires as much fear as the team does to the rest of the league....
