Boston loses to the Sharks. Seems like a good bet their second rounder ends up being a top 40 pick. While I've mostly panned this draft perhaps that allows them to move up into the late teens/early twenties if someone slips (a Ravensbergen, Nesbitt or Ryabkin perhaps). I remained mostly underwhelmed by this class but perhaps that changes after the U18s.

A lot of East teams want nothing to do with the Playoffs

If these bubble teams simply played .500 the last 10:
NYR 3-5-2 (add 2 pts.) = 76
CBJ 2-7-1 (add 5) = 76
DET 2-8-0 (add 6) = 76
BOS 2-7-1 (add 5) = 74
PHI 1-8-1 (add 7) = 72

instead MTL is curr WC2 at 75 pts.

LOL.

It's not about OTT/MTL and NYI that actually have performed well/above .500 the L10...

It's about the 5 teams I listed that were in v good position to take one of the 2 WC slots and they couldn't summon the moxie, the intestinal fortitude, the gumption to play even .500 to give themselves a great chance at a Playoff spot

Shitting your pants down the stretch is not a good look

Damn, Pens sticking their head back in since March 2. But i think Boston and Pens are both done as they are at 71 games. But then again, nobody really wants to grab it. Ottawa looks solid though. Both in play and position.

I watched to the end. Always pull against NY just on principle but man that was a hard watch. Caught the shootout loss for NJ (loved that too). Will watch the 3rd of Detroit/Utah to see if the Wings can crap the bed.

Same thing the other night for me, it was Jackets vs Pens. It was so god awful to watch, I didn't realize how good the Caps really are. The bad part is, when we play some of the bottom dwellers they come alive and look like Cup contenders :laugh:

In "No one wants to be a WC in the East" news:
- ALL 4 teams playing last night fighting for WC spots LOSE
- curr WC1 79 OTT loses to 'mighty' BUF
- curr WC2 75 MTL loses a close one (is 6-1 close? ) to STL
- 74 NYR loses to LAK
- 72 DET loses to COL

at this moment, 88 points will clinch you WC2 with a .536 P%
just 3 years ago WC2 was 100 pts

3 years ago featured three abhorrent Eastern teams - New Jersey (.384%), Philadelphia (.372%), and Montreal (.335%) - which meant that the other teams in the conference had a lot of 'freebie' points. This year, the three worst teams in the East by points percentage (current standings) are Philadelphia (.445%), Buffalo (.457%), and Pittsburgh (.473%). Note that Ottawa in 21-22 had the same points percentage (.445%) as Philly. That was a pretty exceptional year.

88 points would be super low, but the Caps made the playoffs with 91 points last year and the Panthers, who ran all the way to the cup final, made it with 92 two seasons ago. Colorado made the playoffs with just 90 points in 18-19. And as the lowest recent example, the Wild made it with just 87 points in 15-16.

(note that I intentionally skipped 19-20 and 20-21 as weird years)

decent fight between Jeannot and Rempe last night. Jeannot is a strong dude. Wonder what kind of contract he gets this summer
 
Boston loses yet again, this time to Anaheim 6-2. They've earned just one point in their last seven games. Now tied for the seventh-worst record based on points percentage.
