Is it really smart to just give up with the competition against other sports?
Let's say i'm 10 year old kid, who wants to watch sports, prioritizing hockey. -> Oh well, there is no NHL available today, i have to watch NBA/NFL then -> ends up being hooked on NBA/NFL and NHL instead of only NHL. -> I don't see that dodging the competition is the best solution in a long run although it can boost ratings for tomorrow.
But yeah NBA hasn't even started yet and it is still being weird schedule. so it cannot be the reason now.
