NHL scheduling discussion

Is it really smart to just give up with the competition against other sports?

Let's say i'm 10 year old kid, who wants to watch sports, prioritizing hockey. -> Oh well, there is no NHL available today, i have to watch NBA/NFL then -> ends up being hooked on NBA/NFL and NHL instead of only NHL. -> I don't see that dodging the competition is the best solution in a long run although it can boost ratings for tomorrow.

But yeah NBA hasn't even started yet and it is still being weird schedule. so it cannot be the reason now.

Finally, someone gets it. I've been saying this for years.

The other sports won't run against the NFL due to the fear of losing in the ratings. So they don't and therefore, everyone else watches the NFL instead since there's nothing else to watch.

It's very frustrating as someone who isn't interested in the NFL. I'd love to watch something else, but there's nothing else on.

I just wish they were spaced out more so we could watch multiple teams.

Having 10 games start at 7 sucks. Why not some at 7, some at 7:30, some at 8, etc?

I’m pretty sure anyone could figure out how to start some games at 730 and 8 instead of every game at 7. Thanks for the attempt though.
Starting at 7, 7:30 or 8 has zero affect on schedule making.

My understanding is that they are testing out varied start times to give people a chance to watch multiple games and increase average viewership per game?

Even still, it's bizarre to me that we have another week with 1 Monday game and 1 Wednesday game.

Why don't you try and coordinate 1312 games in 32 different arenas each with differing schedules of availability while considering each teams travel schedule along also and tell me how simple it is. I kind of envy the people who think these things are simple, it's like living blissfully ignorant.

Who says it’s easy? People are (rightfully) pointing out the NHL schedule is always goofy
