NHL Playoff Schedule Information Thread

Everything I’ve heard so far has said Atlantic division starts on Sunday, but is not set in stone, maybe those people were just guessing.

Maybe that’s because 3 Atlantic playoff teams play on Thursday, and they like to give 2 days off if they can between regular season and playoffs, plus allow teams to travel.

We’ll find out this week.

Friedman had mentioned no teams who play on Thursday will play on Saturday. Thats Toronto, Carolina, Ottawa, Tampa, Washington, LA, Calgary.

That means the following could start Saturday:
DAL/COL
WPG if they play STL or MIN
VGK if they play STL or MIN

I would guess they go with 2 western games on Saturday, and then starting Sunday each day has 2 east and 2 west games. He also mentioned something about Toronto possibly being a team that has game 1 on Monday, dont remember the reasoning there.

I'll be curious if the Vegas series can get started on Sunday since WWE has the arena booked on Saturday morning and Monday night. I wouldn't envy the crews to have to construct, tear apart, and reconstruct over a short period.

Venues have to book what they can. These are done months in advance, like the NHL regular season almost. Most events book based on logistics of going from one city to another and where the trailers/trucks need to go for the next step.

In terms of NBA clash, the NBA season is over, and no team in the NBA East that makes the 10 team PO (including play in) share with an NHL team. In the west, LA and Den would share. Dal is in the play-in so they might not be in the PO long.

Vegas pretty much has to start the 20th. WWE has Tmobile booked the 19th and 21st.

Safe bet the Kings start Saturday. The NBA is going to make sure the Lakers are playing a Sunday matinee.

I doubt it, LA plays Thursday. i dont think the league will make them go Saturday. If anything, Monday is a more likely game 1 date.

COL vs DAL and assuming Calgary is out, WPG vs STL/MIN can go Saturday. VGK gets Sunday. Hell LA could get Sunday too, im sure Staples Center has done NHL and NBA on the same day before

Vegas is going to be insane that night then. Wrestlemania and the Knights Playoff game (If scheduled) happening at almost the same time, unless they schedule the Knights game around Noon.

Lakers start Saturday. Looks like the NHL got priority at Crypto.

Love to see it, eat shit NBA.

Side note, maybe I am out of the loop, but wouldn't the more desirable start date be Saturday? Like, the NBA should presumably want Saturday over Sunday, no? Since when is Sunday a marquee game day?

Sunday has always been Laker day at Staples/Crypto. They'd always get Sunday games and then the Clippers/Kings would have to take Saturdays. Sunday 12:30 Pacific time is the best timeslot for NBA ratings.

In that case I'm amazed the NHL/Kings pulled that one off. As someone who isn't from LA and would sooner unplug the TV than watch basketball I had no idea that was a thing.
