NHL players that most fans call by their first names?

Sidney
Connor
Henrik and Daniel
Carey
PK

Those are the only ones where if you were to just say that people would know who you're referring to. If I was talking to another hockey fan and said "Vladdy" they sure as hell wouldn't automatically think Namestikov. There's only one Leon I can think of in the league, but the name is not unique enough nor is the player enough of a household name league wide where the automatic assumption would be Draisaitl.

From the Canucks it's Hank, Daniel and Bo. Especially Bo actually, don't hear many Canucks fans call him Horvat. Probably because Bo is just a great name to say. Lou got called by his full name a lot for some reason. Probably because it's another fun name to say, Roberto Luongo.

Everyone I know calls him Horvat.

Probably a lot of foreigners are called by their first name as there's not any or more than 1 in the league. Outside of those Sid(ney) will always Crosby to me at least.

Carey Price is just called Carey semi-frequently.
I can see that in Montreal. I would not recognize him as that, though.

Carey will always be Jim Carey the goalie as his name is so close to Jim Carrey AKA the Pet Detective to me. They even performed their roles around the same time.

Perhaps for the newer generation, though.

Yeah it's pretty much just Montreal fans, not league-wide like Sidney, PK or Jumbo Joe.

Enstrom is usually referred to as Toby in Jets land. Outside of him that seems to be it.

Bobby Ryan is often referred to as Bobby.

Dion Phaneuf is often referred to as Dion the Pylon.

Johnny Hockey is the only reasonable answer.
(Unless Hank counts, then again you wouldnt know which one^^)

Phil is kinda close obviously but most people still say Kessel.

Gotta let nicknames be included because I only call him Phil the thrill

On the topic of exclusive first-name recognition (no nicknames or otherwise) there aren't really any players with that designation outside of their local area media or audiences. Keep repeating the same suggestions but they're not even close to the likes of LeBron or Kobe across the whole of the markets or even among casual/non-fans when it comes to first-name recognition.
