If ESPN has broadcasting rights for the NHL why isn’t the NHL Network included on Hulu or the ESPn+ app? It’s all under the ABC umbrella.

Just not sure what good the NHL Network is when they blackout everyone who doesn’t have access to their channel but their channel is next to impossible to get without a cable subscription or paying Sling or Fubo $125 per month.

Just seems like the least popular of the major sports (including soccer) should do what they can to let people watch the games. At least make the channel part of Hulu so we can stream them live.

I live in St. Augustine, Florida. The closest NHL team to me is Tampa and that’s roughly a 4 hour drive for me. I’m not exactly in an NHL market and I'm already being punished by them blacking out Lightning games from me for some reason. You must be blacked out no matter where you live. We’ll find the closest team to you and you can’t watch them.

I just don’t see why I have to be blacked out from the NHL Network too when I don’t even have access to it. Should be a part of one of the streaming services and Hulu/ESPN+ makes the most sense. Maybe there’s something I’m missing about what’s so important about thff er NHL Network. The delicate genius.

I think I’ve run out of free trials I can use. 4 Devils games in a row on NHL Network.

Yeah...not a very well thought out system. That's pretty much in keeping with the NHL. Why have/piggyback a streaming service when I can just exclude all the cord cutters? Especially when the mandate in the US deal was to have as many possibilities to watch your favorite team as possible. Except for their own network...LOL

Because these things get negotiated piecemeal at different times with different contract duration starts and ends and so it's never anywhere nearly as simple as "it's the same two entities, they should be able to work something out". The broadcast market is segmented to hell-and-gone geographically because that was how you split up the money pot most effectively. That stopped being the case years ago but contracts keep on keeping on.

Regarding regular blackouts, I'd rather watch the Panthers through ESPN+, as Scripps Sports feed gets pretty choppy, both with the sound and video.

It’s not even available in Canada, on any tiered level.

Whereas I get NFL network and NBA ones in my package.

This was happening to me too—4 games on NHLN in a month while my streaming service doesn’t have NHLN. Next week, because my team is playing LA and Anaheim, I’ll miss the games because I am in San Diego. But then I remembered I’m a Pens fan, so not getting to watch might be for the best.
