I've actually watched some of the tournament this year. With zero hyperbole, every match looks more fun to attend than a Stanley Cup Finals.

The Halifax Galleons, largely befuddled at the notion of adding a gangster to our franchise, will select Michael Franzese Sr. for this “role”. Mr. Franzese was a caporegime in the Colombo crime family and son of former underboss Sonny Franzese. In 1986, Franzese was #18 on the “Fifty Most Wealthy and Powerful Mafia Bosses” list. He ran a gasoline bootlegging operation that generated a purported $8 million per week. That same year, he was sentenced to 10 years in prison on conspiracy charges.

Franzese was portrayed by Joseph Bono in Goodfellas. He was released from prison in 1994, after initial release in 1989 and rearrest further to a parole violation in 1991, and he moved to California with his family in light of receiving multiple death threats and contracts on his life, one of which was approved by his father. Franzese publicly denounced his participation in organized crime and became a Christian. He has published several books about his life of crime and his faith and is a public speaker.

Do we have any insight into Mr. Franzese or the truth of his claim of faith? Not at all. But we look forward to meeting and greeting him and learning more.

Ok, for our haunted location, we’ll go with St. Augustine’s Castillo de San Marcos. This 16th century fort is rumored to haunted by dead conquistadors, pirates and probably a methhead or two.
