Strawberry's pick is especially awesome. So is Magua's - I've never heard a Tiny Desk show that I liked, but the process behind that pick is great.

We start the day with @JojoTheWhale on the clock with two picks, @pit on deck, @Magua on the lido deck, and Toe on the lido afterdeck.

Do you know how it feels to be deathly afraid of snakes, to be constantly thinking about them and worrying about them, and then see one in the wild? That happened again yesterday. It was halfway in and halfway out of the chicken coop when I went to check on something. The chickens were out and about, and the head half of the snake was inside the coop, bent around the door, with the ass end lying there and not moving - at first. It's so f***ing unsettling to look down and suddenly realize "That's a f***ing snake." It was just a black snake, so it wasn't "dangerous." You wouldn't think someone who is so constantly wary of them to be startled by the sight of it, but f***ing hell. They are so gross and slimy and obscene. I haven't been comfortable ever since.

Many of the plot elements of Casino did in fact happen. His life was saved from a car bomb by a metal stabilization plate. He was a Jewish gangster in the Italian mob. He even did run casinos in secret while among other duties, hosting a talk show:

But most importantly for our purposes, Rosenthal is the father of modern sports betting. He rose to prominence in the Chicago mob by simply outworking the other bookies. He'd read 40+ out of town newspapers every morning to gather the information to set his lines. When setting the best odds wasn't enough, he'd just fix the games he needed. This culminated in Rosenthal opening the first book in a casino:

After my grandfather retired, he bought a little place down the shore for his family to get together. Each summer when I was a teenager, we'd all go down and most nights the menfolk would come together for some friendly poker. We played a few different variations with the dealer calling out the chosen game, but 7 card stud was always the clear favorite.
