Not into Golf at all, so i'll just pick the top rated Golf Course in Portland.

Heron Lakes Golf Club

@DancingPanther

The Plats are both psyched and a little meh about this pick because we don't love the idea of triple dipping, but boy recent events sure swayed us.

Freya, Norse goddess of love, beauty, war, magic, and other glorious things. Queen of the Valkyries. Powerful general and leader of the Vanir. Freya is the most powerful witch the gods have ever seen, conjuring hexes and spells of all kinds, drawing on the mystical ingredients of the nine realms.

I will not get in to spoilers. But rest assured, this is a great pick

@Strawberry Fields you're up

We start the day with @Strawberry Fields on the clock and @Striiker on deck with a pair (phrasing). @Asnito and Cannon have to make up their picks, and then we will cruise into the last round of this phase.

Speaking of cruising, you know what I would like to do? I would like to do a lot of things, but aside from my Bedard scenarios - which is the optimal way to go - I would like to go German. You won't be surprised to hear that I want to trade for Lukas Reichel, and I want to do that no matter what else we do. If we can't get Bedard, I would put together a package for Stutzel. It sounds like it would be difficult to do, but I think we could swing it. Then I grab J.J. Peterka from the Sabres, and VOILA! We are German! It's better than being canine, amirite?

I waste a lot of mental energy thinking about this stuff, blowing up the Flyers and rebuilding them. I know it's pointless, but I can't help it. I'm desperate. I just wish they would f***ing fire someone already, for f***'s sake.

Ancient India for ancient civ. Not that I actually know anything about it but I saved this category for the end for a reason.

@Striiker

It's a really good pick actually and an enormous topic outside of my scope. So I cannot help.

They were the world's best steel refinery for a while. A long while. The best steel came from India and was known as Wootz steel. Famed Damascus steel was actually made from Wootz. Every ancient civilization traded for it. It spread far and wide. It was probably only rivaled by Toledo steel, but only rivaled.

Dealer's Choice III - Snapbacks

I've grown pretty fond of collecting hats even though I don't wear them all that often. I want to make sure I can keep this hobby going and have access to all the future hats I may desire. Maybe even control production of them in our new world.

These are my three latest picks (and yes, all brims will be curved)

@Strawberry Fields whenever you're ready

That purpose being making whomever is wearing it a really, really slow target?

False! Even full plate armor is really light, and it was distributed very ergonomically. A full set weighed an average of like 50 pounds, which is a hell of a lot less than soldiers today are running around with...and it isn't distributed nearly as ergonomically these days. Modern infantry can be running around and fighting with over twice that weight. Plate armor was also completely flexible, so range of motion wasn't impacted. Plus, knights trained with this stuff. End result is that they'd be covered in steel, mostly impervious to harm, and just as fast and capable as if they were unarmored. You're not outrunning or outmaneuvering them.

The myth that armor was so unwieldy that its wearers were slow or couldn't mount their own steeds comes from tournament armor. Jousting for sport was such a controlled environment that it was fine to just load up with a shitload of armor to make sure you were safe. That stuff limited motion in specific ways, and was very heavy. But you'd be a simpleton to wear it in combat or out and about.

Let me pick on the kid in peace.

This would be a good day to just disappear into the Quackverse. A dear friends wife fell a few days ago and broke her neck. She’s now paralyzed from the neck down and can’t breathe without being hooked up to a machine. Her kids are flying in today (they live on the west coast) and they’re disconnecting her from life support tomorrow.

Spent my day setting things up with the funeral home, their pastor and reserving our community room for her memorial service. What’s worse is that my wife and a couple more of her friends were planning a party celebrating her 70th birthday later this month and the kids were flying in to surprise her.

This day has truly sucked.
