I love looking at this, we are going to see alot of this in the playoffs this year. Might even be able to wear shorts considering the playoffs are going to go into late June. :naughty:

I'm hoping to wear shorts to the Oilers regular season game in April (13th)! Enough of this winter crap.

Also on the jersey side of the conversation, I love seeing other teams dark jerseys. They are much more iconic to me than the whites. Even some of the newer teams like the Wild have some great darks - if they could show up and play in their 3rds (North Stars) that would be fantastic.

Last thing I need is another jersey but if the league does switch it up, I'll likely pick up a white heritage.

A poster from Calgary said that whites at home would ruin their Sea of Red so what about if the home team could choose what they wanted to wear, whites or darks ? Mind you i don't think Calgary has to worry about that too much.:naughty:

The NHL would never do this because less potential jerseys means less sales...

But one suggestion if seen, and I kind of agree with is... Each team has a specific jersey that is theirs, most likely the coloured one, and they have a secondary jersey for when they play a game where the jerseys are too close and conflict.

As an example: The Jet's jersey would be blue and they would wear it at home and away, except when they play another team that is also blue, so then they would wear their whites or the other team wears something else ( teams can talk and work this out ). This would also give teams like the Jets the option of wearing their whites at home in the playoffs, because the road team would always be a coloured jersey.

Basically , every team wears their coloured jerseys unless they conflict.

As long as the Jets can wear whites at home for the playoffs and the White-out i'm happy.

I can honestly say i hope this happens first because of our White-outs and second because i love the white Heritage Classic jersey. I think the White-out would be that much better if the Jets were actually wearing white.

I would love this if it's true. I think the Jets White jersey looks better than their darks. And I agree with other posters - I love seeing the other teams dark jerseys. When they're wearing white, they all look the same. I really don't see why they need to even be consistent. I mean, I get that teams on road trips don't necessarily want to bring multiple sets of uniforms, but I'm sure that's a situation where the NHL can figure out the logistics to minimize those situations.

Also colour vs colour games would be great sometimes. In the old days pre-HD television, you couldn't do that because it was too hard to tell the teams apart on TV. But now with everything in bright vivid colors and high res, this shouldn't be a problem. Obviously, you'd need some coordination for this too.

I like this idea.

Our current white jerseys are boring.

I'd rather wear our Heritage White jerseys.

I don't really care about matching players and crowd for the whiteout. I want to see colour. I want the HC blues when I am at a game.
That's fine but the White-out was created partly because at the time whites were our home jersey. Me i love the look of the crowd all white and the team too especially with our Heritage classic whites.

Now with divided broadcasting rights and blackouts, you’re lucky to see your favourite team play in any jersey 😉

I don't think it necessarily had that connection to the jersey colour. I guess it might have, but primarily it was about Winnipeg winter - a whiteout.

It worked on a lot of levels! But the marketing campaign (or one of them anyway) was "Good guys wear white!" so it definitely had that meaning.

OK. Doesn't make much sense though, since the other guys would wear white in their building.

I like the idea of color on color unless they're too similar.

I really dislike the 2.0 whites, id like to see less of them.

Ofc the Jets could just do what everyone wants and make the heritage our primaries
Yes it's time to do that already and make our home jersey right now our third.

Where have you read the NHL has plans to go back to white jerseys at home?

I've seen the bot scribed social media posts on this as well, but avoid click bait like the plague. I've yet to see anyone credible suggesting they've heard as much of a hint that this is on the table.

The Athletic just penned a piece today regarding ideas Bettman & company are considering. Jersey colours wasn't mentioned at all.

It had nothing to do with the old practice of wearing white jerseys at home. Wearing white at home was something all NHL teams did.

The Whiteout began in the spring of 1987 as a response to Calgary's "C of Red." The season prior many Flames fans wore red throughout a deep run to the Stanley Cup Final in 1986.

The following season Winnipeg faced Calgary in the 1st round & in the spring of 1987 the Whiteout concept was pitched by Ron Palson, the advertising executive at Palmer Jarvis Communications to Jets advertising executive Madeline Hanson.

"Good Guys Wear White" was an immediate success & fully embraced by local media, CKY going as far as to get their AM/FM & television personalities together together to create a Wang Chung parody of the hit single "Everyday Have Fun Tonight."
