NHL investigating Oilers usage of LTIR with Kane’s contract

This, and it’s weird to focus on one team/player when we know there have been shenanigans from numerous teams for a while. They refused to deal with/acknowledge it, now just happen to be targeting a player that seems to (deservedly) engender controversy.. shit’s a bad idea, just fix the loophole you absolute dinosaurs.
Oiler fan understanding why They want more

But hockey fan wanting to know why nhl takes until after to figure shit out

Not reading every post in the thread. I didn't see it posted anywhere, and I also like to point out I don't recall TSN or anyone else doing a story about it.
So you admit you don't read the posts, then say you didn't see it posted anywhere... whose fault is that?
And no other poster is responsible for your ability to recall something you may not have heard/not heard of/read/didn't read.

Stop being so helpless.

ITT People who just read the headline, do no research on prior LTIR investigations and spout conspiracies about the NHL.

No f***ing kidding. You'd think that reading could be at least the base minimum expected level of engagement here, but then they write the BS they think is true is even more facepalm-worthy.

We're (for the most part) all on the same internet, folks. The info is there.

There is a simple solution. For a player to be eligible for the playoffs he has to play in the last game of the year3
So a team can't carry more than the two goalies they had in game 82 because Star #1 Goalie was injured in game 74?

Simple indeed.

The league has been pretty lenient. They investigate everyone, but not too hard or for too long.

Yet Kane came right out and said the one thing you're not supposed to say in these situations, so they've got to look into it.

The Oilers can do it just like any other team, but not if it's against the wishes of the player because they need him to say all the right things to the media and the league investigators. If they did so and he's miffed, then he might not be playing ball. It really comes down to Kane's story today and what he said on camera/audio at the time. If he's clear, then there's no issue.

All those other cases where the league looked the other way ended up coming to nothing because the player was adamant that he was still hurt, right up until he wasn't hurt as the playoffs started.

The tin foil hat belongs on the head of anyone ignoring the many prior times Florida, Tampa and Vegas were allowed to abuse LTIR and not face so much a second glance. Gary and company are being so blatant in their rigging of the league that one has to wonder what suddenly makes them feel so safe to be so damn open about it.
Because people like you still watch the games, buy the merch, take kids/friends/family to games, etc. To each of the whining conspiracy theorists, I certainly don't see you stop cheering their teams, they just like an outlet to whine and soapbox about how they see how it really is with no solid proof.

For the record, I don't think the league is corrupt. They're somehow incompetent as a blind wolf in a field of sheep but that's for many other factors. Meanwhile, they're still expanding, making money, profits, etc. and as any business, that's the #1.

The only positive thing that has come out this this year is the NHL is no longer hiding it’s biased against the Oilers. It’s blatantly obvious. Officiating, draft pick compensation for trade and coaches and now investigations. No integrity.
Yeah, I mean they're the only team as persecuted as the Leafs, eh? 🤣

Right, but if there were ongoing actual concerns there how do you let the Oilers and Kane play without punishment? Say he has a big series instead of shitting the bed, scores a huge goal in game 6 or 7, Oilers win (sorry bud)- and then the NHL says “oh ya, we paused the investigation so they could play without distraction, but you cheated and are fined draft picks/Kane is suspended.” It’d hugely delegitimize that win, which is why I’m saying they had to either deal with this earlier or write it into the CBA. Instead, to my neutral-fan self, it looks a bit arbitrary, unnecessary, and targeted. Maybe they’re just going after the most obvious case, but again- the answer is to fix the actual problem, so issues like this don’t happen and fans can’t claim favoritism.

Is reading hard? I said I didn't read all the posts in the thread with over 300 posts. Why do you read all posts in every thread?

There hasn't been a story about Vegas on TSN or any other news outlet. It was just speculation.

This league is a fking joke. I honestly might just stick to watching OHL. It's so predictable that the only team getting investigated is the Canadian one.
The only team getting investigated is the one whose player claimed to be healthy when the team needed to hold him out to potentially circumvent the cap, but let’s totally gloss over that fact.

Regardless if the NHL is picky, it is still against the rules to use LTIR to plug a reserve of healthy players

Kane was out for exactly 82 games but was ready to play as of game 83, the likelihood that his injury recovery time matched the exact number of seasonal games is near 0.

So they lied. Pure and simple
Your player is supposed to be legitimately injured, it's not complicated

There were obvious signs with Kane. Before the TDL even, there were talks that Kane might hold them back because he feels he's ready to play. Obviously the league picks up on that.

This should not be what we are discussing, why are the Oilers under investigation about this while other teams were not. It's about the timeline, and what the f*** was the league doing there.
Kane in 2015 and Stone in 2024 were way more obvious. They both were so incredibly injured, but ready for Game 1 of the playoffs.

A ruptured spleen has a lot less chance of getting reinjured on the golf course than a hockey game. Come on, dont be so obtuse.
