Thats only like 5k off the Panthers-Kings game from January, which was exclusive as well.

Good lord

Yeah, and that's just the two linear #'s. "Skate for LA" could be viewed a million ways in the U.S.: espn2, truTV, ESPN+, Disney+, Hulu, FanDuel Sports Network, KCAL-TV, Pluto TV & Samsung TV Plus.

That FLA-LAK game was another example of "scheduling" and why you don't put an ETZ team in the late game -- and going to be worse when the PTZ team historically draws poor #'s from their side, anyway.

Good numbers for the entire pro-Atlanta expansion team out there.

Canucks-Kings: 159k

edit to add this random stat:

There's been 18 National Broadcasts in the U.S. this season that have had an average viewership of under 250k.

7 of those games have involved the Kings.

If you take out the 5 non-exclusive games on that list, the Kings are part of 6 of the 13 games sub-250k.

How come that LA hasnt a bigger following? They been around long, Gretzky trade, SC final, 2 Cups 14 and 16, and huuuge population, is it so big that people dont identify with LA? Do they have low local ratings?

When we used to get full local/RSN reports the Kings (and Ducks) were generally always in the bottom five. Part is because population (so % of obviously be lower) and part because relatively no one was (is, since likely not different now) watching them.
I dont understand this secrecy with ratings... By the way Reaser, did you get the last 2 Canadians 4Nations
ratings?

The Kings have been a blackhole team for ten years. There’s just not a lot to be excited about. Even long time fans like myself are mostly checked out because we have no faith in Blake/Robitaille to build a contender. So we’re waiting out the clock here.

There’s also an extraordinary amount of media competition in Southern California. And ultimately the culture of LA has always been baseball and basketball.

Stadium Series right now again very weird from the NHL to have a full schedule like this game isn't happening but still it's the best night to hold it. NBA on ABC has the Sixers on which should have a terrible number since they're an abysmal team and the lead in on ESPN should be good too with a marquee college basketball game before. Intrigued about the numbers.

This great high that Bettman is on from 4 Nations is about to end so badly for him.

This upcoming playoffs is about to be a nightmare for him, ABC and ESPN.

The top markets are all likely to be out. No BOS, NYR, PHI, CHI, PIT and maybe DET.

Teams that most likely in. CALG, VAN, WIN, OTT, CMB, CAR, NJ, TOR, EDM, FLA.

U can't ask for worse than that. 1st round matchup is pretty guaranteed now to be WIN/CALG, or WIN/VAN. Yikes!!! 183k on ESPN2??? maybe 108k??

Bettman is not going to be sleeping at all from mid April to early june. The 4 nations memory will be all forgotten.

It's not going to be fun this playoffs. I'm starting to fear it already. Get ready for the worst ratings in NHL history..

Lets hope things change.

Might help with the Canadian tv rights negotiations if numbers are great there.

I am impressed that you are so close to Bettman that you know hes thought process and feeling.
we will see, but of course Bruins etc is big draw, TNT will hurt finals, no doubt, maybe ESPN will push
a little more, not only when things get big.

Some 4 Nations from Sweden and one NHL game

Usa vs Can is a replay, the other hockey game was Zurich vs Färjestad in Champions Hockey League, a tournament trying to mimic Champions League.

Well it’s clear it was a mistake not putting the SCF exclusively on ABC every year, they might have been able to extract 50+ million annually from Disney (which I think will be fixed in the next media rights deal). Other than that, I think the playoffs will do ok as long as teams like WSH, COL, FLA, TB, EDM, and TOR make good runs.
