That is Canada and US combined. Still a great number if that can be reachedWilbon and Stephen A said they wouldn’t be surprised if it was 14-15m watching last night.
Massive number, absolutely fantastic!-4 Nations Championship on ESPN-
USA-CANADA: 9.252M
Really good US number.-4 Nations Championship on ESPN-
USA-CANADA: 9.252M
I have to imagine the League and PA may break out the 2028 World Cup into a separate rights package (as they did in 2016) after these numbers.
Wow-4 Nations Championship on ESPN-

"ever" only goes back to 1994 when Nielsen changed their measurements.
That's why the phrase "on record" (back to 1994) exists.
Actual U.S. record # is 1971 Game 7 SCF 12.41M on CBS.
But the "on record" record is 8.72M for 2019 SCF Game 7 on NBC,
Also don't note that OOH measurement wasn't included for the 2019 game, which if you est a 20% OOH # that 2019 Nielsen rating would have been est 10.47M. In other words it's likely more people watched 2019 Game 7 than 4 Nations Championship but Nielsen's measurement changed.
Just for the information.

Four Nations Face-Off ends with milestone audience for Canada's OT win
An audience approaching ten million viewers watched the final game of the Four Nations Face-Off, capping the NHL's biggest success story in some timewww.sportsmediawatch.com
"marking the largest audience for an NHL-sanctioned game in the Nielsen people-meter era (dates back to 1988). The previous high was 8.72 million for Blues-Bruins Game 7 in the 2019 Stanley Cup Final, a game that took place before Nielsen began including out-of-home viewing in its estimates. (All things being equal, that game likely would still rank as the most-watched.)"
If one goes back further, the Four Nations final ranks as the most-watched NHL game since Game 6 of the 1973 Stanley Cup Final (Canadiens-Blackhawks: 9.41M) and the fourth-most watched all-time, according to historical data released by then-rightsholder NBC 15 years ago.
You can give Disney money back on the deal, if they don’t buy the rights (they would likely be the buyer). It's good for the ongoing Canadian rights discussions but U.S. presumably would be included since it'll be replacement for ASG (unlike 2016 where it wasn't during the NHL season) so Disney particularly is owed their midseason event.
Could a difference between broadcast and cable. The people meter measurements overall could go back 1988, but the in record for cable just to 1994. Remember the NHL basically had no games on broadcast networks from the late 70’s until 1995.Ha, so SMW said what I did, other than he goes back to 1988 but I believe 1994 is what the "NHL" goes back to for their "on record." SBJ said 1994, as well.
Regardless, SMW made the same point I did.
