Olympics: 2026, 2030, 2034
All Star: 2027, 2029, 2031, 2033
World Cup of Hockey: 2028, 2032

I think that's the next decade.

I wouldn't be surprised in there is a ASG in 2030 before Olympics as well as next year. ASG are still a great corporate/business for the NHL (and why sport leagues still do them despite the games themselves aren’t competitive)

The recent games have been good. Let's see the rest of the regular season before the victory lap.

I am suprised the 4 nations format did so well. Maybe they could do this or a six nation format in years there is a summer olympics going forward. Good for the NHL to capitalize on this.
What victory lap? Recognizing that good ratings are good isnt a "victory lap", neither is calling out people who literally never participate in this thread unless there is negative article/rating to post.

Im not surprised you think this way though, considering 6 years ago you were the Joelef of this thread.

Why do you have to call people out? It's the internet, people can say what they want. Ultimately, this tournament has done great things for the NHL, and I expect it to continue to do so. Saying people only come when it's negative news when the sports media only ever puts that out about the NHL, is something you should take up with Ourand and the Awful Announcing crew.

-CANADA-

USA-Finland: 1.4M
-SN: 1.027M
--TVAS: 357k

Sweden-Finland: 897k
-SN: 634k
--TVAS: 262k

USA-Canada: 3.4M
-SN: 2.567M
--TVAS: 850k
Wow, way worse than I thought. USA outclassing Canada in hockey is something new.
These ratings are fine Seph. 3.4 million about the typical Leafs game so people were watching. I would be good with half of this.

Part of it is SN keeping it to itself. If game was on CBC also, like they did during WCoH that's a bigger number. Also some Citytv #'s not included -- got sent that 150k AMA in Montreal alone on Citytv so the Canadian # has more but yes, default assumption would be the Canada # would be higher than the U.S. # (edit: and it is.)

UPDATED USA-CAN # from Canada:

SN: 3.8M
TVAS: 955k
Total: 4.75M

via: John Shannon

^-this makes more sense. Believe the earlier #'s from Braylon Breeze of Sports Media Watch were Numeris #s for entire event window? and these from John Shannon are what SN & TVAS would be reporting.

Leafs don’t get 3.4 million viewers on a typical night in regular season and that includes HNIC Saturday.

I was shocked this wasn't on CBC but I think they would have had to put it on the CBC app as well, thus losing exclusivity. SN produced this, their choice imo.

I've posted a few times in the past warning about how Canadian #'s are reported -by media sources which would know- but this seems like a good time (Leafs aren't getting 3M EVERY Saturday night) to remind that it's different from how we get it in the U.S.. Using CAN-USA #'s as example.

1. Had French-CAN reporter say 3.1M in CAN and 922k on TVAS
-I got sent from another French-CAN reporter that was incorrect with random note about 150k watching on Citytv in MTL-
2. Sports Media Watch/Breeze reported 3.4M in CAN (2.6M on SN & 850k on TVAS.)
3. John Shannon reported 4.75M (4.8M) in CAN (3.8M on SN & 955k on TVAS)
4. SN reported 4.7M on SN.
5. NHL PR reported 10.1M NA including SN+ & Citytv in CAN (w/ U.S. fast national # being 4.4M would put CAN around roughly 5.7M up/down whatever final U.S. # ends up being.)

No they don’t
Ok thanks, good to know.

Too late to change? lol

Ha, probably since it's less than a year away and they have it planned as the "send off" to the Olympics. Plus, broadcast commitments. Olympic Hockey on NBC (USA/peacock) does nothing for Disney -- who have the rights to the ASG. If it was a NHL run best-on-best, Disney would have the championship (see: this season.)

Which can add to DaBadGuy7's point about an ASG in 2030, that'll likely be dependent on the new rights deals language because if the "A" package is owed a premier midseason event, like Disney is in this rights deal, they'll need 'something' (ASG or ASG'esque) paired with the Olympics -- unless of course NBC got the "A" package (which is unlikely as of today) because they'd be fine with no ASG because they'd have the Olympics anyway.

Yes its, a forum, and forums only work when participants are willing to engage in good faith discussion about the topic on hand.

The last sentence of your paragraph has to be intentionally obtuse.

The last few pages of this thread have been discussing the high ratings that the 4 Nations face off has produced. Every other user that frequents this thread has stopped by to comment/like/engage with that, besides one. The one that brought up the WNBA outrating a playoff game 16 times after it happened, whether or not it was relevant to the concurrent ratings being discussed. Someone who's entire history in these threads is exactly like this

*sees bad rating...Comment about it

*See good rating... bring up previous bad rating.

*Sees folks discussing what could have possibly influenced a rating in a positive or negative way...bring up previous bad rating. Say other users are using "excuses". Bring up previous bad rating again

*Sees folks discussing ratings predictions for games/events/series. Bring up a previous bad rating/the WNBA game.

That kind of bad faith, confusing trolling with legitimate participation schtick gets tiring, just like your "but it will never beat the NFL" schtick did 6 years ago.

Especially for users like me who come to this thread to actually engage in meaningful discussion

Of course, you're not doing that now.

It's about as clear as day for anyone that wants to read it.

Did I not say this was a good thing? I didn't put down the league. I said I wanted to see how the rest of the seasons turned out. That's not trolling, check the rules. The only thing tiring is attacking anyone for not having the same opinion as you.
Especially for users like me who come to this thread to actually engage in meaningful discussion
You start fights online. That's not a meaningful discussion, that's causing a ruckus.
