He has always been great with internal stuff, he knew Blake would be taking the reigns before their was any indication Dean would be let go, he knew Kopitar would be taking the 'C' 18 months before it happened.

Getting into "which GM is going to blink first and feel Askarov is just too good to pass on" territory, even if no GM really wants to take a goalie in the first round.
 
Really surprised about Cole still not picked. Thought he might go to Detroit. Definitely not passed Buffalo

I’m not saying that TS won’t be a great player, however the playing against men thing is very overstated. The DEL is not the same standard as the Swedish, Finnish Elite or other Euro leagues. So ‘playing against men‘ does not have the same meaning when looking at a player in the SEL for example. The DEL is one of the weaker elite leagues in Europe, so whilst it probably helps a little it has been given far too much weighting in this debate.

I will reiterate that I’m not having a go at TS and he would have been my pick at #3 every time. I just think Byfield was closer to Lafreniere than he was to Stützle.
