This draft is crazy deep. Like 20-25 guys with top 10 potential. I realize that most of them are late but having at least 10 picks in this years draft is huge. Gives us a lot of options to trade up and get a guy we want or take a few guys who slip late.
Weak draft for goalies though, which is funny because it's the draft with the first generational goalie in a long time in Askarov and the best Czech crop in as long as I could remember in Nick Malik and Jan Bednar. Unlike in previous years, the USA has absolutely nothing worth looking at right now, and Canada would not be much better had it not been for Garand. Even Garand is not someone I can see people loving, and unless he has a stellar statistical season, could be a late-round/undrafted goalie. Sweden and Finland each have solid 3rd round type goalies in Calle Clang and Joel Blomqvist respectively, but that's it right now. It's still early, but in the past few years there was still usually a good starting list of around 10-15 guys with the potential to be top 3 or 4 round guys. Right now I would say there is only 6. The rest need to come from the shadows (i.e. Aidan Campbell or Garin Bjorklund) or improve (i.e. Drew Commisso) to warrant getting on draft boards.
Right now Bjorklund,Commisso, Hugo Ollas, and Vsevolod Svetnikov are borderline guys who likely will get drafted by someone, but right now it would be later on.
