Wouldn't have minded trading a high 2nd + late 2nd for Veleno. Would have loved to trade up for Smith though.

In the end its okay, there are plenty of good players left.

Edit: Would have liked Alexeyev.

Same thing I'm thinking. This organization clearly sees value in local players, just doesn't seem they felt the value was in Veleno.

It's too bad. Imagine going from zero to Kot, Veleno and Poehling within 2 drafts with someone like Danault still young who is a fringe #2?

All above 6' too. Would've been nice but unfortunately wasn't meant to be.

I'll trust guys that know more than I do on this, but I hope Veleno doesn't become a solid 2C

He dropped because there are concerns about his offensive upside. He should be a top 9 though. Could wind up as a Vermette type. Vermette was drafted in the 2nd rd with similar draft year production.

People who didn't want Veleno for all sorts of reasons....well I bet we will take Groulx if he's not gone before. And then, you will wish we would have picked Veleno....
