Interesting thread, I agree that our drafting between 2008 and 2012 has been absolutely terrible. On the other hand, Bergevin era's drafting has been mediocre at best so far. Here's hoping Scherbak will become something special.

The problem with evaluating the Bergevin era of drafting is we have to wait a bit yet to find out.

2012: Galchenyuk and Hudon. A few busts in between them.

2013: McCarron, DLR, Lehkonen, Ghetto, and even Reway were solid picks. We did alright and likely got the best available in the 2nd round with Lehkonen.

2014: Scherbak, Lernout, Evans. No 2nd round pick. Scherbak has developed well considering various injuries. Lernout might be a fringe NHL player at some point and Evans is a dark horse. Looking to see what he can do next year in the AHL.

2015: Juulsen, Vejdemo, Bradley, Bourque, Addison. It's too early yet.

2016: Sergachev, Bitten, Mete. We have to wait with Bitten and even Mete. Sergachev was swapped for Drouin. We did well in this draft.

2017: Poehling, Brook, Ikonen, Walford, Fleury, Tyszka, Primeau. All having solid development at the age of 18 except for Ikonen but he is playing against older players.

It's nothing to brag about but there is potential for a few more surprises like Mete.
