NHL NHL Draft Lottery - - Bruins fall to 7th

My concerns about O'Brien:

1) he was a -2 this season on a team that had many " plus" rated players.
2) his play in world juniors was not good, one point in 12 games.
3) he is not physically ready to play in the NHL yet, is around 20 pounds under weight / is at least one more year away.

What I like about him:
1) scored 98 points as a 17 YO, second to Misa.
2) was named OHL rookie of the year in 23/24

In all the mock drafts I looked at ( 10) he was a consistent 10 OA pick.

only a few guys every year step in right away and play in the NHL. I'd say no matter who we draft at #7, they likely are a year away. If they go with one of the Swedes, they'll likely start the year in Providence.

Getting bergy and krejci in the 2nd round is just remarkable. I shake my head everytime I think about it. Truly lightning in a bottle. Doubt it happens again. I was hoping poitras would be the guy picked in 2nd round and quickly made the jump but he regressed last year.

Tampa Bay got Kucherov and Point in the 2nd and 3rd Rounds respectively 4 and 7 years after.

I'm a betting man that mrtka ecklund martin o brian jump into top 6. I'm looking if there is a bet for this. It wont go in order. Book it!!

Mrtka's scouting report reads like he's a better skating & passing version of Carlo. My concern is it sounds like he's not very physical and he needs to improve his decision making and making plays under pressure.

O brian ecklund and martin are the most likely ones to jump into top 6 the more I read about them.

I dont know anything about these kids.
But is there really that much of a difference on lists between 5 and 7 ?
I've been studying a lot on these prospects and after misa in terms of forwards it's all over the map and it changes day by day it seems now martin is taking the next big leap and many calling him the next sam Bennett. After pick number 2 its fluid like water on who goes next. Bruins will get a good one at 7 as long Donny doesnt do the 2015 debacle again.

Button has Martone going second and Misa third and Eklund going somewhere after number 10....he really knows his stuff!!!
I think NHL draft order has o brian at 4 also it's all over the place.
IMO you always pick the best player available, position does not matter.
The Bruins have holes everywhere.
We need to hit on this pick.
Hopefully Neely and company have learned from the whiff in 2015.
This is Donny last chance he blows this sayonara!

IMO the Bruins need more and better prospects at every position . So take the the BPA . The system is weak at all positions . If in 3-4 years they can identify a position they have to many prospects make a trade then . This would be a good problem

The Bruins do a good job with defensemen and goaltenders. They struggle with forwards, Pasta's the only elite forward they've drafted in the last 10 years. The Bs need to get a playmaking center. I don't think Elias Lindholm is the answer although he did come on strong at the end.

saw him play a handful of times this season, very nice player but as you stated, a bit soft. Jackson Smith from Tri-City would be my presence if they were to pick D between the two of them

I think Lindholm will have a much better season in 25/26. Hoping he can get 65 points and continue to play well in his own zone

I think elias is gonna explode next year I'm gonna make him my sleeper pick in my fantasy draft next year. Your right he turned the after burners late in season with pasta I think it continues.

Sure maybe, Maybe McQueen has first line potential, who would know we've never actually seen it on the ice, but he is tall. I can tell you I am sure there will be players who go outside the top 7 who will become first line players, and players who go inside the top 7 who never become first liners. I don't know who they are but that is the nature of all drafts.
Yeah you're right. It's scary for me because now I'm not sure what Sweeney is thinking. He said he's confident in the top 7 last night, but I wonder who he thinks the top 7 are. Bruins and Sabres definitely the biggest losers from last night. I think looking at Seattle's prospect pool, they may have wanted Mrtka anyway.

I think the Bruins are just in a wait and see how the board falls position now. We're going to talk about this or that for 2 months now, but at the end of the day it's really just going to come down to what the board looks like when they're on the clock.

I hope both of you are right.

Utah is a team I could see trading down or taking a shot on Mrtka. They have some fine young forwards in Cooley, Guenther, Doan to go along with Keller and they drafted Iginla last year. Right shot top 4 d-man are hard to find and are pretty coveted around the league.

PROPOSAL

Chicago receives
: 7th OA, Mittelstadt, Peeke

Boston receives: 29thOA, 34thOA, Reichel, Boisvert, Lardis, 2026 2nd

Why:
-Chicago gets the ability to pair guaranteed Swede chemistry for life in Frondell and Eklund. They are a line for years to come. They also gain a 2c/3c that isn’t still popping puberty pimples in Mittelstadt, and gain some consistency with Peeke.

- Boston gets A ready to go 2LW with Reichel who is young with a promising future. Boisvert and Lardis seem to have promise. 29th pick can be used on hulking center Jack Nesbitt, and 34th on Carter Amico the giant. Also frees up 8.5million.

I think you have to consider it is 3 to 4 years before these prospects are NHL ready in some cases longer . Brunet is the only D-man in Providence that may help the D in the future. Providences looks very weak IMO.
