NHL NHL Draft Lottery - - Bruins fall to 7th

Somehow this post:
How could there be bad vibes?

Worst case scenario? 7. And far and away the team’s top prospect. That’s WORST case.

I’m stoked! I can’t wait!
Turned into this insane tirade:
Who cares what ranking they get? All that matters is what kind of player they turn out to be. And that is completely unknown. We don’t know who the pick is going to be and we don’t know whether that pick is going to end up being a high impact player for this franchise. Walstrom was a higher ranked pick than Charlie McAvoy. Look what happened there. Pavel Zacha was a number five pick, if I recall correctly. I mean, he’s a good enough player, but he’s hardly a franchise cornerstone, as everybody seems to be expecting from this draft spot.

So much stress and anger here, but nobody knows what’s going to happen. Most of the great players in the Boston Bruins recent history were not even first round draft picks!
“Why are you excited?! Asshole!”

“OLIVER WAHLSTROM!!”

Wanted to stay at 5, but 7 makes me look long at Brady Martin. His floor is a bigger Mike Peca and ceiling is very intriguing.

The beauty thing about a Brady Martin popping is that then you automatically have grit in your top 6 for the length of his career. If he can become a Mike Richard's (minus the blow) then you have a skilled champion to go to war with.
Oh no

I'm disappointed. But thankfully this didn't happen in a draft with a clear-cut superstar at the top. No disrespect to Schaefer or Misa, who I wish the Bruins had a chance to choose from, but if this had to happen, I'm grateful it happened this season.

I will guess DeSonyers, Frondell. O'Brien and Hagen will be off the board when 7 rolls around. Though someone in the top 6 will probably consider Martone. I would be more than happy if any of those (current) centers fall to us but there are sneaky good talents that are landing in the 8-to-15 range in most mocks.

Just don't pick a stay-at-home D. You can develop stay-at-home D you draft after the 1st. It's much harder to find a skill-heavy forward later.
Like mark friggin Stuart?

I won’t lie… I’ve been looking.

Perhaps Trader Donny makes an appearance. It’s doubtful that anyone picked at 7 will play next year so I can see a trade at that spot.
Imagine being a team in the mid teens, what would you give up for 7th overall?
Or would you get more from a team picking in the 20’s.
Lots of options.
Trading down into the 20s you better get one hell of a good young player instead of drafting another Trent Frederick

Not pleased about the results of the draft 😠...maybe the Celtics will make me feel better. 😡

Okay, well hopefully the Panthers are taking care of things with the Leafs so we can be a step closer to a 1st round pick... :banghead:

Welp...I'm going to bed

Rumors have been that the Flyers are all over him. Them falling 2 spots doesn’t help the likeliness that he falls to the Bruins at 7.

I wonder if they’re accounting for Frondell and Hagens being gone before they pick?

They’ve got a few 2Cs projectable in their pipeline—I think they’re looking for a center who potentially projects as a high point producer. O’Brien, Hagens, and Frondell check those boxes.

Obv could and will likely be wrong though

I’m walking back off the ledge. Looking back at previous drafts, Matthew Tkachuk 6th overall, Willy Nylander 8th overall, Rantanen 10th overall, Kyle Connor 17th overall, Werenski 8th overall, Tage Thompson 26th overall, Pastrnak 25th overall, Makar 4th overall, Brady Tkachuk 4th overall, Quinn Hughes 7th overall, etc…

Let’s hope the scouting department can earn their paychecks.

And there is a good chance that none of the players in this draft will be as good as any of those players.

Some are much better than others such as 2015. Allegedly this one is the not better ones. Has Dom given his thoughts on this first round yet?

The NHL does not get much right and this draft lottery can be added to the list.

I read that and had to look around the room to make sure there wasn't a huge box being held up by a stick somewhere.
It's not that crazy. The Athletic just put out a mock draft with Martin going 9th overall. Assuming the top six are gone my choice right now is definitely O'Brien but Martin might be my next choice. I like Smith and Mrtka too though. Just hope they stay away from Roger McQueen.

O brian will be the pick and potentially he is better then frondell and desnoyers. Hes all over the map in terms or top 3 to 8.

Mrtka, build it from the goalie out. Build it right.
