NHL Draft Combine 2025

Found this snippet interesting. It's unfortunate that teams (understandably) only release footage of generic questions from interviews.

It would be interesting to see how teams process the prospect's reaction. Vaguely recall hearing things like teams not liking it if the prospect was combative in his response. Teams can't expect a teenager to be perfect on the ice but they probably are using the response as a window into his personality.
Agreed, probably testing their coachability and get a sense of personality.

I think Misa and Schaefer assume they are shoe ins to be picked in the top 2. So as long as they are not in the last pack - the test results for them won't make much of a difference.

Still, I give brownie points to prior combine top prospects like Celebrini. Who still went all out and placed in the top 5 for V02 max.
Celebrini's dad is a fitness nut and it's engrained in Macklin, he trains like a beast.

That being said I think too many people make too much of a deal about the combine and testing as I'm more interested in hockey skills and projections as players, this other other stuff is interesting but a bit of a sideshow.

It's also the nature of the league being far more chaotic than at least the other big three. But I do agree, hockey itself lags behind in some ways. Seems like a lot more data tracking will be available in the near future as tech. sophistication increases to remove the drudgery of counting and tracking stats.
I don't think fans even use counting stats well. There's also an obsession with finding the next mediocre prospect to become a star and avoiding the next great prospect to bust to an extreme detriment.

Who is better. Cameron Reid, Kashawn Aitchenson or Logan Hensler
I'd go
Aitcheson
Reid
Hensler

Hensler's the safest, but I see him more as a shutdown defender. Aitcheson's mean streak wins me over though. I put Reid over Hensler due to his offensive potential.

But I think they're all solid prospects.
