I saw O’Brien somewhere at 6’1.5”. Only one I really haven’t seen that I want to know is Desnoyers. Is he not measuring?

He should be. He just can't participate in the drills.

Right, that’s why I’m most interested in him. I’ve seen people call him 6’2” but on the ice he definitely looks more like 6’1”.

Edina QB who also plays hockey. That sounds like an Islanders player in the making. He can even get mentored by someone else who did the same thing.

Looking through historical leaders and biggest takeaway is that none of these tests seem to correlate all that well with nhl success.

I’ve never heard a draft eligible say “I’ve been picking my spots and need to be willing to give more effort throughout the year”. Meaning he willfully chose to not try in games this year. I dont take much from these combine interviews, but this really rubs me the wrong way.

I don't think that's what he meant by picking his spots. He mentioned in the context of re-watching his games, so it's more that he was seeing what the scouts were saying was true and there were times he could and should be going harder.

Obviously you'd prefer a guy with a non-stop motor but that's a hockey skill just like any other. It's important but in ways it's just a part of the overall projection.

I already liked Cootes but with his results at the physical tests, I like him even more.

He's smart, he has a non stop motor, he's engaged, he's steady, he's versatile.

And he's a very good athlete.
