NHL Draft Combine 2025

Vaguely recall that Columbus interviewed a Czech prospect who did the interview through their Czech scout and the impression that was left was how robotic he was.

On the flip side, Derick Brassard wasn't 100% fluent but his personality came across well and Columbus seemed to genuinely appreciate that he knew their roster and was otherwise engaged during the interview.

Also Columbus' drafting sucks.

wonder about the severity and how much his affected his game. was it why he seems to always keep things simple rather than risky/flashy plays and we didnt get see the full potential? already like his baseline floor game so if there is more upside there...

I feel kind of bad lol

At some point I'm sure they get sick and tired of it all.

The league should change the process. Have each of these prospects come up to the podium. Answer 10 basic questions in front of execs or team rep. "What have you been doing since the hockey season ended etc.".

Then whichever team wants to have a more in depth interview can do so. Cutting down from 30 to 10 interviews (example).
”Omg, its so bad when you have interviews with NHL teams! Who on earth can manage 30 interviews?! Please, would someone help these poor kids while they are living absolutely best time in their life.”

I'd answer those and more if I have a chance to become a millionaire

Not sure if anyone has posted NHL podcast interviews of Schaefer, Hagens, Misa, McQueen.

Per Pronman and Wheeler: They're hearing teams love Martin. He will go top 7/8 and teams have him ahead of if a lot of the players ahead of him in public lists at the top of the draft.

Also Martone could be a faller becuase of all the centres in the draft.

The Athletics podcast with Pronman and Wheeler is the best source we can get. They mentioned teams loved Martin, Frondell and Desnoyers in the interviews. Martin is up there in the top group for a lot of teams.

NHL draft class has a spotify podcast too where they interviewed the top players. Although it’s not that informative.

I can possibly see Carbonneau going before Lakovic. All it takes is one team to like his offensive upside.

If it were me I would throw all the money on Hensler under 22.5. He is the type of pick that teams win with. Right defencemen always carry more value, has size, can skate, great defensively. He is the most boring of all the projected first round defencemen but he has a high floor. Many teams will want him.

I just figure every list I've seen has Lakovic going in the 11-14 range and Carbonneau going more in the later teens, and Lakovic being 6'4 I'm guessing he won't drop due to his size alone.
