He adds some edge for sure. Trouble is, where does he slot? My understanding is that he's a second pairing guy on most teams these days, which still leaves us with a hole on the first pair unless we overplay him.

It's a good return and he's not a bad player, but how does he slot?

Hanifin-Faulk
Liles-Wisniewski
Hainsey-Murphy
Jordan

2016-2017 D corps:

Hanifin - Faulk
Fleury - Wizniewski
McKeown/Slavin/Carrick - Murphy

That isn't even a fantasy roster, that is a plausible outcome. I freakin love it.

He's on the 2nd pair with Hainsey. Have to wonder if Murphy might be being dangled at this point. How many RHD PP guys do they really need?

I mean we are 8 picks into the 2nd round so I don't think that means the guy is a consensus first rounder according to the people who know the most.

How's that view in the rear view mirror. i was simply saying most mocks from reputable sources had Bittner Top 30.

Hainsey wiz more likely second pairing. Improvement but probably not enough for the playoffs. I don't know where I'd pencil in Hanifin. I think there's a chance he still goes back, we'll see.

I'd like to see us add one more legit dman.

That's not what a consensus is. But that's semantics. I wanted Bittner too based on the mocks, but I still think NHL GMs and scouting departments know more than the media guys.

It's a hockey message board.

What isn't funny is a guy adding nothing but snarky, unrelated comments just to be a troll. Then following it up with "Lolz you all know nothing".

Just don't post if that is all you have to say.

Not being a troll. Leave the scouting to the scouts.

Shelter the hell out of them and watch them drive play.

Or Hainsey-Wiz and then Liles-Murphy bottom pairing that we shelter. Either way. It's not a bad defense.

But again...that has Hanifin thrust into a top pairing role, something I'd rather see him earn rather than assume he can take.

Yeah it's more important to me that we have Hanifin at 26 than at 18. Let's make sure he actually is ready to be in a big role here. Because we have weak d, it won't be hard for him to beat people out for the third pairing, but I'd like RF to take care of that particular problem and then make Hanifin earn it.

We've been preaching patience as a new mantra around here. Back it up with Hanifin.
