I sincerely believe NHL does not care about concussions as they say they do. If they cared, the suspensions would be so steep it would stop the hits to the head. The hits to the head did not go away after decades of hearing about it.

Maybe they should spend same amount of resources on solving the repeated concussions from hits to the head, as they spent on setting up the entire betting casino around NHL that does nothing but extorts the population (especially with minors attending hockey games).

You're putting the blame solely on the NHL.

The players are just aware as the NHL is about the ramifications of hits to the heads and the players keep doing it.

Maybe the players should develop from respect for each other and stop targeting the head when they do.

There's also times where making contact with the head is unavoidable as the game moves so fast.

They can’t do anything about it because admitting it would bring a whole host of lawsuits from players who suffered concussions before they took steps.

You mean the refs forcing apart grown men wanting to fight so the public can see they no longer condone intentional hits to the head isn't caring?

look at the players too... you give a guy a longer suspension and he and the NHLPA appeal it. It's both sad and f***ed up the group that is supposed to protect the players actively prevents the league from protecting the players, because protecting a players paycheque is more important than protecting their health

The NHL just wants the masses to think or believe that they care about concussions...

I absolutely think they care, but I do think some suspensions are not long enough. I think it's clear they care, the hits to the head are nowhere near what they used to be. It's a very difficult issue to deal with. It wouldn't make sense to hand out huge suspensions for every headshot. It is a very fast game (faster than it used to be when there was a lot of hooking and holding) and it's a contact sport. Some hits go bad and a lot of them are accidents. I hate saying it's a fast sport and it's hard to hit sometimes, etc. as it sounds like a huge excuse, but there is some reality to that. That doesn't absolve the hitter from responsibility though, I think that just needs to be taken into account when handing out punishment. Not taken into account blindly, of course, but if you look at a particular play, how recklass was the player? Was it a miss by inches such that it could have been totally clean, or was it simply a horrible hit from the start, etc.
