Honestly that makes no sense. The Winter Classic is always played on the 1st. Toronto-Detroit should be made the Winter Classic. That is the true matchup since it is on the 1st.
January 1, 2017 the NFL will be playing regular season games and the NHL does not the Winter Classic going up against them.

Hope the Leafs game isn't a Stadium Series. It doesn't have to be the Winter Classic, but at least make it a "Centennial Classic", or something along those lines.

Can someone PLEASE tell the NHL to quit using the same teams over and over?
I heard the Sabres want to host the Winter Classic in 2018 since it will be the 10th anniversary of the event and as hosts of the first one they feel that they deserve it. Assuming that actually happens would you still feel this way?

Wow, they're really changing it up this year
Toronto has never hosted an outdoor game and it will only be their 2nd time playing in one.

St. Louis has never played in any outdoor game.

While this will be the third outdoor game total for both Philadelphia and Pittsburgh, they have never played each other in one.

The only team who you can say should not be in another one is Chicago, however what other team could St. Louis play against?

With Winnipeg hosting Edmonton in the Heritage Classic I wonder if the NHL will have a second one next season since the game will be played in Toronto, considering they have had multiple Stadium Series games in one season.
